OK. I really didn't know it was rare...to be a homeschooled teen because I've known and met enough. I didn't think it was an honest question when the person asked if homeschoolers were schooled through highschool in so many words. Yes. Yes they are. Some parents aren't defeated. Some people really don't care about prom (Just dressing up and creating an event)...I don't really think it's a social injustice to not go to prom. Don't believe me.

Well I know I'm only a year out of high school but I don't think that people should be hating on you for feeling horrible about missing your prom. Although I do think that you have more issues than just missing prom...sorry about judging. I didn't get to go to prom either and it wasn't even my choice. My parents have archaic and misogynistic beliefs and wouldn't even consider letting me go. And I was an amazing student, wanted to go with my friends who were girls because none of the guys at my high school were worth it, and did not and still don't want to have sex till I'm married (not that commendable, I just REALLY don't want to get pregnant). I still feel like there's a hole in my core that can only be filled by a prom...or what my ideal prom has now turned into. It's because there's such a fuss made about prom and because there are so many experiences that have to do with it. There are stories that all my friends know that I don't. I missed figuring out who to share a party bus with and deciding for myself whether prom sucked. Not to mention the most important thing about prom: getting dressed up more than any other time in your life, except your wedding, and having hundreds of pictures taken.
As for your last part: if you don't think you were a loser in high school you think you're one now. Focus on the new you and show everyone up at your reunion.

Well my prom is today and its painful watching my friends prepare, my parents said no...but you know what reading all these posts has just made me realize that its not the end of the world...its just one night that everybody else forgets the next day. In south african schools its a big thing...but I'm nt gona hate my parents for trying to protect me, and caring. Not going to senior prom doesn't make me feel less popular, I'm still the cherry on top. Prom night won't define the person I'll become tomorrow.

Why is that? Someone that respect there parents advice without making a big deal out of it. That takes some maturity. For most kids that would of been devastating and perhaps left scars for a long time. Your prom is a big deal and being able to handle not going; That takes a Pretty strong person. What sources are you talking about. Did i over look something?

Hire a hooker. You end up paying for sex one way or another, right? Just ask any married man.

No, I didn't go to prom. My friends and I were'nt into school events. Bought some beer (had to pay extra if no ID) and some buds and some pizza. I didn't really have a girlfriend until I went to college.

That was in 1975 and I have no regrets. Dude, don't beat yourself up over this.

Any woman who makes this an issue is superficial and shallow and doesn't deserve your time. There's plenty of fish in the sea (or these days internet dating sites).

I didnt go to my prom. I know you regret it some but it really isn't such a big deal. Later in life you'll probably be glad you didnt go, just seeing how other "popular" prom goers lives turn out. Listen to John Mayors "inside the lines." Dont conform to the overated stuff everyone is apparently supposed to experience. Do what you want. Live your life.
P.s. If you've ever seen stephen king's "carrie" prom is a total nightmare.

But also it can be the problom of low self-esteem and no confidence in their abiliities. A person that does not belive in their slef. Also it can lead to a lonley life. Also a person who has no friends . girlfriend, and a person that is just basically here. A person that has grew up with people laughing at him and being bullied most of their would have low self esteem. I guess in the end you have to decide what you want to do with your life. It can aslo be alot of things. Who knows still tryng to figure out myself. But also it can be how society views people and generl. You have the popular and you have the ghnots. Ghnost afe people that are jst their. Since I lack a lotof power. I wish to gorw up in become a poweful person; making my dream money. If I every slef destruct; by what people do. I think Iwould end up destoying people. I always say this be aware of quiet just my opinion.

I didn'go to my prom either. I never made plans for it. I remember me and my mother were talking about it. She said to me "What's the point going to the prom if you don't know how to dance?" And I said to myself "What's the point going to the prom if you barely know or you barely talk to anyone in your high school?" The truth is I had horrible experience with girls when I was in high school. They were the worst girls you could have possibly imagined. They were acting very strange to me and I stood there like I was a helpless child. I wish I could have done something, but I didn't because I didn't want to get into trouble.

Prom sucks, in our school there was like 12 hot girls that I would consider going with but they were taken faster than you can say "hey" and all the rest of the girls are a lil bit too desperate and just plain weird. If i would have gone it would of been shit

We can all sit here and think about how we should have went to prom, but there are a lot of kids who can't go to prom. I would say that sometimes the best way of making ourselves feel better about a situation is to here stories that are worse. And you may have missed out on prom, but I'm pretty sure it will give you motivation to make up for it by providing yourself with "prom-like" memories in your future. You can't change that you did or will not go to prom, but because you didn't go, make the rest of your life mean more to you than prom. And then remember if you didn't miss prom, you would have never received that motivation. Look at this situation better!

Hey!I didn't go to my PROM either so you are not alone. My friends orginally didn't want to go to Prom either and then it was a last minute thing. They changed their minds all of a sudden.I didn't go cause 1. They told me they were going to Prom 2 days before. 2. I couldn't get a dress cause the Prom was in 2 days.3.Didn't have a date to go with!I could of gone alone, but didn't. 3.My two other friends didn't go cause of religious teachings.Plus they invited me to their dance instead. It was Harry Potter themed too.Which is nice and the food was free. Also, don't worry about it.There are way better dances than PROM!So,your not a loser.Besides Prom is getting to the point where people take it too seriously.

I didn't go to my prom, didn't ask anybody, wasn't interested. Sometimes I forget there even was a prom. I don't see what the big deal is.
