I didn't go to my senior prom and this has bothered me ever since.I could not get a date. I feel like a loser and feel like nobody cares about me. I got so depressed that I had to drop out of college and now see a physciatrist and on antidepressents. I am in a severe depression. Is there anybody on this board who did not go to their prom??? And I got a question for women...Women if you were dating a guy and you asked him if he went to his prom and he told you he didn't go because he told you he was the ugly duckling and could not get a date would you think lowly of him??? Would you look down on him??? Do you have any advise on a guy like me who didn't go to his prom???

I think he was referring to high school, not the nursing home.

I went to my junior prom but didn't go to Grad Dance (senior prom). I did go to the senior party though.

I didn't go to my prom, no one asked me and the person i asked decided to go with someone else. But that was a long time ago and I'm a different person now. You need to get over those insecurities.
Here's a serious question.. what do you all think of after-prom overnight hotel parties with no champerones for 18 year olds that are quite popular.

I skipped my prom. But now many years later I have scheduled a "date " with an incredibly HOT year old call girl that will be graduating from high school this spring. It's gonna cost me $400 start to finish and I'm guaranteed a happy ending. So all's well that ends well.

Okay, just read the initial post. I wouldn't think low of someone who didn't go to the prom because he didn't get a date. Though I wouldn't stick around someone with such low self esteem. It's one night in your life. Get over it. If you are that depressed because of one night in your life then you seriously need to get some help. Find a therapist and figure out what the real source of your depression is.

I did not go to my prom and thankfully so, overpriced, who would have given $150.00 for a short ride on a boat with nasty food and lots of people you did not like? saved my time and money for better things.

in my opinion, a more pertinent question would be why was your self esteem and value so low that the occurences of one evening led you to where you are now ?

If you told me that you had not gone to your senior prom I would think you were just one of a million others who didn't go to their prom for whatever reason. As far as being an"ugly duckling" I would probly say that some of the most goodlooking men I have met are some of the ugliest men I know. Looks a lone are not what makes anyone beautiful. Yes I do have a sugguestion and that is there is life after high school. It is a great big world out there and there will be many more exciting events for you to get a chance at to take some wonderful woman to. You need to just get out there and do whatever it is you have been dreaming to do and let it come to you. Not going to a prom is the last thing in your life that you should be letting get you down. Have you ever seen how many famous people out there who never went to their prom? Or even had a date while in high school. Just get on with your life and prom will be left far behind you.

I don't live in America and grew up in the UK, so I never got to go to a prom, and I probably wouldn't have either...

I would not look down on someone who didn't go, infact, I seem to like the people more who didn't go, I think of jocks and priss preps when I think of "prom", which are not my kind of people...

You are not less worthy because you do something different to the majority of people, sometimes doing things differently is good; well, often...

I didn't go to mine either. I don't think that you should put yourself down at all. How old are you? I was not able to get a date and yes, I was a little down about it and now i look back at it and tell myself that it was ok not to go.

I just want you to know that you ARE NOT a loser; if anything, you are terrific guy who can think for yourself; you seem to have a heart that any gal would be lucky to call her own!!!
My husband did not go to any proms (and he is still, after 15 years, the most talented, smart, and gorgeous guy in the world!) Most of my friends didn't, and neither did I, for all kinds of reasons: too expensive, had to work, our parents wouldn't let us, some went to parochial schools..
Lots of young people around the world don't go to proms...they are too busy working or just trying to live.
So please don't beat yourself up. Focus on your talents and the things that bring you happiness.
