I went through Katrina. Your best bet is to stay away from windows. If you have any money, jewelry, watches etc. keep them on you. Stay on the bottom floor. Dont go upstairs. There is a better chance of something falling on you then you drowning. Stay away from loose furniture, stuff like that. If you have a gun, get it. Be prepared for looting. Dont go outside. Dont go into any attics or crawlspaces, there is a good chance you will get locked in. Alot of people drowned in NO when they were trapped in a confined space. Other than that, nothing you can do other than ride it out.
