I was trying not to do this, but I will post some examples tonight of what I consider to be sexual abuse done to me by the Southern Baptists in a very large prominent church.

and i'm sure your post will be fair and balanced as they allways are and directed at those that did the abuse to you and not be a blanket statement about all southern baptists or any other group the believes in god including christians...

It will certainly be as fair and unbiased as the companion thread that prompted this one, asking whether homosexuals pose a danger to children. I think the Catholic church could field this one pretty well. The answer is that yep, kids are in danger from those church people.

Funny, I've never seen you too concerned about the blanket statements made about gay people in other threads.

I believe that this has got to be one of the most ridiculous forums on topix. A true Christian who believes the Bible and puts those teaching to practice, would never be harmful to children.
Read the Bible, people! See what it has to say! Quit making judgements, accusations, etc. when you don't even have enough knowledge to intelligently and accurately debate the subject.

Do Christians pose a danger to children?

Strange Topic. But it falls into the same area as any religion. People may teach their OWN children what they wish, the problem is when they try to teach other peoples children.
In that area, it's wrong, but in most cases not dangerous (unless its some fanatical cult).

For example, I had my step daughter here for awhile and while we were out shopping I had a Christian try to pull her aside and preach "The word of God", the hellfire & damnation tactic, so to speak. When I interrupted, he was not pleased, to say the least. I explained our (My husbands & mine) view on religion and again, not pleased. LOL.
To make a long story short he damned us to hell, spit at my feet and stalked off, fuming.
THAT type of crap is Dangerous.
We had the task that night of explaining his view, why it is extreme and what our view is.
It is confusing to a child, and it scared her badly to be "cornered" like that.

Bottom line is ANY extreme view is dangerous, be it religion, politics, etc etc, for extreme views prevent anyone from seeing different viewpoints, different ideas & often obscures the line between right and wrong.

They don't pose as much of a threat to children as do muslims and JWs.

No, you don't think. You hate...which is an emotion not a function of intellect.

I assume this threadis a hate thread brought on by your dislike of the "Do homosexuals pose a danger to children" thread.

As soon as you can show me a Christian event that equates to "Folsom Street fair" that the gays throw each year... complete with live S&M demonstrations in front of kids...

...maybe your thread will have some teeth.

But you can't.

Do Christians pose a threat? Some of them do. Just like any other group... there are good and bad people in any group.

Your hate only makes you as intolerant as those who started the other thread.

No, just dumb fools like you who are so far from holy or Christian it isn't even funny. You are the worst kind of Christian. Dangerous little man is what you are. Why don't you go bash some gay's, that seems to be a sport for you.

Is that all you got guitar man? You and your street fair. Keep your kids the hell away if your so horrified. It's the parents you should blame that bring their kids to such an event, and I would think that those parents would be straight. We are really sick of hearing about your s&m fair...get over it.

To teach a child that there is no room for discussion or interpretation of "God's Word" is dangerous in and of itself. If they are taught to adhere strictly to the "letter of the law" so to speak, dangerous things can happen. Fred Phelps is an example of extreme Christianity. I think his children have been irreparably harmed.

To teach someone that there is no other answer than the one you are teaching is, iin my opinion, irresponsisble. No matter what the subject, I think children should be given the freedom to question our beliefs as well as their own. I have learned more in questioning my faith then I ever did in following the church lockstep down the prescribed path.

So, Mark, just what is "holy" and "Christian?" All your ranting proves is that you are totally ignorant of the subject at hand.
Gay Bashing is a sport? Looks like Christian-bashing is one for you. How can you judge John when you know absolutely nothing about him? Nothing in his post suggested anything like what you said about him.
When you can have an intelligent debate, please feel free to post again.

the church lockstep as you call it has nothing to do with gods word... i have no problem with children asking questions... wanting answers... and i have no problem with children studying gods word looking for answers... the answers are there to be found... i have no problem with children questioning others beliefs... so i'm not sure what your point is... gods word interprates itself... all one has to do is let it do it... don't take my word for it... let gods word show you...
