I want to know how Noah got to Australia to pick up the kangaroos and wallabies, especially as no-one in the Middle East knew it was there. Why didn't he leave some maps? Especially when he went to America to get the anacondas, cougars, rattlesnakes,
and raccoons.

The stories in the beginning of Genesis are just storie. All the science and evidence proves that the earth and Universe are older than 4004 BC.

FUrther, the creation story in Genesis 1 contradicts the story in Genesis 2.

God gave us minds to think and eyes to observe His creation. Trying to force the history to match the Bible, instead of finding how to reinterpret the Bible to match objective truth just discredits the Church.

If the entire earth was covered with water, then there would be tons of evidence everywhere. There would be great salt deposits almost anyplace you stepped. Our fresh water lakes would all be brine. The fossil record would substantiate this. But it does not!

Quite true... Since there's no evidence for "Noah's Flood", it certainly was NOT real:)

No, that settles nothing. The Bible is not even internally consistant, let alone consistant with the physical evidence. Therefore, the Bible cannot be the literal word of God, unless God is ignorant and confused, or is deliberately playing mind games.

I'm shocked by how many topix posters think it actually happened. I guess this really is a pit of stupidity.

Writing in Paradise ... i agree with you 100% with you. it seems the religious people on here think that if it is in the bible then it is true what if it said to stone someone to death for talking back to their parents would they do that too???.... wait it does say that (lev 20.9)... why isnt that an option anymore?

American Christian's only believe what they are told or what is listed in one book. ONE BOOK ?

There was a flood, in a small region surrounding Iraq, etc.(Not called Iraq back then). This was a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.

The tar pits outside of Iraq were used to seal boats, etc. for river travel. The type of palm tree in the area resembled what was reported to be used for Noah's Ark. Correct length (cubits was it?) diameterm, etc.

I'm yawning about right now.

Any way, the "story" i.e, fable of Noah's Ark is increadibly magnified but it does tell a good story.

The real story is out there if you want to open your eyes and your mind and it's not the biblical version.

How grand a story must it be or can a simple one in smaller scale still get the point across.

My God you are a simple one aren't you???

It's just a story.

The bible also said that a guy came back from the dead. Never happened. I can't be done. Not that it shouldn't be done, it CAN'T be done.

2x2 of the unclean(4 each)
7x7 of the clean(14 each)

since we are (i'm assuming) discounting evolution, you have to add up ALL the creatures (great and small) that are in existence AS WELL AS all animals that have gone extinct SINCE the flood. it is absolutely, irrefutably IMPOSSIBLE.

not to mention the coldness of a god willing to save ONLY the eight people in noah's family.

Assuming that most people who believe in the Judeo-Christian God, believe that he is omniscient, omnipresent and all powerful; it isn't a far leap to assume that if God wanted the animals around the world to board the Ark that they would be there to do it.

Also there are stories of a great flood from civilizations around the world. Ancient Mayan and Aztec writings tell of a similar happening.

There is fossilized sea life in the Rocky Mountains. I wonder how it got there.

hmmmm....who knew kangaroos could swim? i know CHIMPS can't.....but i'm sure he ONLY loaded up all the middle eastern chimps for the ride?

good point on the fossilized sea life....don't those pre-date noah and the flood?

considering how much trouble those unclean animal have caused, both to the Jews and the Moslems, why didn't Noah just leave them behind? Then we wouldn't have all the almighty fuss every time a Moslem spots a ham sandwich, but I would miss roast pork and lobsters.
