We own a 2003 Chevy 2500. Had reduced power problems when we bought it (not new). We took it to Chevy dealer
R said we had a bad instrument panel. Cost 500+ to fix. The pedal sensor has already been replaced we've blower out this an messed with that. What else is there to do. We check to see if Chevrolet would honor an fix it. But they said they done a warranty period for like one year to fix. Well most people weren't having the trouble when they were new. But they won't stand good for it. What will happen is someone will get killed in an accident and they'll have a law suit on their hands. Maybe then they'll take care of the hundreds of people who are having trouble with this. Have a good day and God bless.

Have had the same problem with my 03 2500 hd . Scanner told me TP-2 was faulty, but in the process of changing it found a broken n wire in the group of wires going to it. since this is basically drive by wire they all need to be connected, repaired the wire and taped them up so they wouldn't shake and the problem has not returned.--- find some wood!

I have an 03 Silverado 2500Hd and had the same problem. It quit I pulled over and yes I was mad and I hit the steering wheel hard. It fixed it and I found out the harness that goes from the ignition switch through the TILT steering column had started breaking into. I pulled it out and soldered the wires back together so it would make a good connection and have not had one problem sense. I hope this helps someone else. Just try tilting the steering up and down to see if it changes.

I have 03 2500HD. Ihave been battling this problem for about 3 yrs. Out of nowhere the engine will go to reduced power, engine light stays on and will finally go out. I went to have my radiator fixed and the mechanic said He had heard it was the computer. I heard if this occurs pull over shut off truck and the computer resets its self. Believe me when this has occured I have been put in a dangerous situation with traffic coming ,I could only go 10-15 mph. Real scarey.

I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado, 5.3L, with 250,000 miles on it now. I have been having the same problem for about the last 3 years. Reduced Engine Power. Only happens in the winter. I live in WI. I have spent over $3,000 just trying to find out what causes the reduced engine power. I have replaced everything from the gas pedal to the throttle body, new wiring harness, knock sensor, fuel pump, battery, alternator, done numerous oil changes, had radiator flushed and new anti-freeze, Mass Air Flow sensor, air cleaner, got the computer re-flashed, O2 sensors, and finally replaced the computer. Nothing helped. I agree, we should hold GM accountable. I am all for suing them. I have broke down in some dangerous situation, actually got sideswiped once on I-90. It was a miracle that I haven't got in a serious accident as a result of Reduced Engine Power. If you pull over, let it sit for a couple of minutes, then take off it will run again, but there is no guarantee for how long. It happens at random. I have paid close attention to it, doesn't matter if I hit a bump, go up a hill, raining, sunny, turn left or right. The only similar thing is that it happens in the cold weather. Once it stays above 50 degrees, the truck runs great. How do we all get together and make GM recognize this problem and make it right. I wouldn't mind having a 2014 truck parked in my driveway for all my troubles with my 2003.

with computers onboard now the backyard mechanic is a thing of the past.....but maybe someone out there has an answer.
do you own the truck outright?
if so ,trading it in on a reliable truck is an option.
i drive a carburated non computerized truck even though i can afford a new truck....i own a $30,000 dollar harley vrod,so money is no problem....but i don't like computerized fuel injected vehicles that i need to rely on for work.i've owned my current work truck since 1985,the last non computerized and non fuel injected model year.
options for me would be ;
1] trade in your current vehicle for a "hopefully" more reliable one.
2]find an old truck thats been restored, or in great running condition.....try "ebay motors".
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. It's always a sensor on a chevy, also check your mass air flow sensor, and intake gasket

I have a 96 chevy 2500 5.7 vortec. I was on my way to alberta and it went gutless after about 1/4 throttle. After that it sputters and wont rev up even in neutral. It revs up at 1/4 throttle but if I punch it it just sputters like its strangling, the air intake seems to be fine..maybe a plugged fuel filter??

I have 2003 6.0 silverado and had the same issues as all of you took it to the dealer and had computer work done still no fix so I fixed it my self here is what I did.
First replaced the knock sensors under the intake and the wire harness that runs to them. This solves the cold weather problem. Next replaced throttle body very easy to do save some money. Then I replaced the throttle pedal and haven't had a problem since been 5 months.

How is it working? Did the problem come back or did you fix it for good?mine is doing this stuff and I don't want to spend a lot of money and atoll have the problem.

I have a Chevy Silverado 2500HD with a 6L gas motor with a automatic transmission. I have had an on going problem with the check engine light coming on followed by a REDUCED ENGINE POWER display. I have replaced the throttle body, had the wires re-connected and shrink-wrapped to the throttle body. I have replaced the PEDAL POSITION SWITCH. I still have problems with the engine shutting down and loss of power. I have to pull over and turn the motor off for a while and restart it only to have it happen again. I know I am not the only one with this problem. I think it is design flaw. I think the wires are too small and have too many poor quality connectors throughout the wire harness. If you know how to fix this problem, Please help me. My truck is my tool box for work! I have herd that many people have taken their trucks to the dealer only to have this problem return after heavy expenses. Can we get Chevrolet to acknowledge this problem and help us?
did you ever find out what the problem is ?? I'm having the exact same thing and have changed the same parts you mentioned with no results .
