When Corey Houghtaling, his girlfriend Jenna, & Corey's service dog, Attitcus were refused service at Wok N' Sushi on Route 23 in Franklin, Parsippany Buffalo Wild Wings took action! Parsippany B-Dubs manager, Courtney Tofanelli, ran across Corey's post that had been shared by friends and couldn't believe what she was reading. Being a manager at the nearby Parsippany BWW, Courtney reached out to Corey and his girlfriend and invited him for a complimentary dinner at BWW as long as he brought Attitcus! Corey, Jenna, & Attitcus did just that! They were extremely appreciative of the kindness that was extended to them from Courtney and BWW. Courtney said, she just did the right thing and would hope someone would do the same for her if she were in the same situation. All of us at Parsippany BWW are so proud of Courtney and our staff for the community outreach and hospitality they've shown this week. Anyone who is so brave as to fight for our country should never be faced with this situation. Here's Corey's post-
"Today I went into wok n sushi with my girlfriend Jenna Williams and I brought in my service dog Atticus who is a registered service dog from the NEADS program in Massachusetts. I have this service animal from issues I had from my 2 combat deployments during my service with the United States Marine Corps. I was refused service to eat in the wok n sushi restaurant establishment because I had my service dog with me. I felt like a Vietnam veteran coming back from the war because of the way I was refused. When I was refused seating in the restaurant I proceeded to call 911 to get ahold of the franklin police department. I began to have a serious anxiety attack during this time from my issues overseas which is exactly one Of the reasons why I have my service dog Atticus. When the patrolmen arrived they were very helpful in calming me down and trying to figure out what the establishment's issue was with having my service dog there. They proceeded to try to segregate us to the downstairs dining/bar area where no customers were seated. There were many empty tables available in the main dining area and one of the couples stepped up to defend the service dog under the ADA. I just want this to be known to the public how disgusted and embarrassed I was as a disabled veteran To be treated this way in the same country that I fought to defend our freedom for and want to say a special thanks to the franklin police department for helping me with the altercation with me, my service dog, my girlfriend and the restaurant"
