You can recover deleted imessages from iTunes backup.
1. Connect your iPhone to the PC with which you sync it. iTunes should open (if not, open it manually).
2. You should see your iPhone in a box, top righthand corner. Select it.
3. Now choose 'Restore backup'.
4. All the data you previously backed up will now replace the data on your phone. It will take a few minutes. As long as you haven't backed up subsequent to deleting those text messages, they should now appear on your phone handset.

Deleting or losing a contact doesn't mean it is gone forever. If you haven't yet synchronized your computer and your iPhone, use iTunes. If you have synchronized your devices, use your most current backup or archive.

There is one "free with limitations" program I know of which claims to be able to recover iPhone data. The limitation is 1GB of data, which I'm guessing would be more than enough ...

It does seem though to be aimed at the backups made by iTunes when synching an Iphone with said program. If you don't use iTunes with your iPhone, then it's probably gonna be a professional recovery which will set you back a few quid.

I don't usually post links to commercial software, but in this case, you don't have many avenues to explore, so it may help.

If you have backup, you can easily get back your deleted messages by simply restoring or using some iPhone/iPad backup extracting tools to preview and extract only messages you want to computer.

If you have no iTunes or iCloud backup, text messages or iMessages were not be overwritten on your iPhone or iPad, you have chance to get back them directly from your device by using some iOS data recovery tool, related tutorial: , which tells you how to get back deleted messages, including whatsapp, skype messages, iMessages, Message attachment files, images, voice.

I'm responding to an old post, but in case anyone runs across this like I did ...

Unless I'm missing something, there are quite a few pieces of software around with which you can attempt to recover deleted messages or just about any other kind of data from your iPhone. They vary on what types of data they can recover - all seem to recover the basic types of around a dozen - and whether they can recover from either of the following three : iTunes Backup, iOS Device, iCloud backup.

I personally think Mobiledic iOS Data Recovery is the best one that can 98% recover lost data from iPhone with or without backup.

I got too many messages stored in my iPhone and it almost drowned me! That's why I had to delete some of them. However, I accidentally remove some important text messages, which were sent by my business partner, and I cann't no more find them. I googled and found a guide to restore deleted/lost messages on iFoneTips, which is really helpful. I tried iPhone Data Recovery and it really works. Thankfully, I got my deleted messages back on iPhone SE! You should give it a shot! GOOD LUCK!
