Don't you just get so mad with those folks? In fact I needed my MAC fixed and it took our guy like 10 days to get his azz here...I mean really what is wrong with these folks??? Girl hope you and the family are well. We are all good here. I was just to lazy to log back in when I saw your name pop up on the BOARD.

Hope to chat more later this week. Have Doc appointment tomorrow early a little (vanity) appointment if you know what I mean. Will email you and tell you about it. Love to you and the family,Mom

MESSAGE FOR GEKO

Hi Geks, they have taken my computer into the repair place as there is something major wrong with it. The IT guy said that it had "crashed totally". They are restoring my data and then have to reinstall all programmes. So he said hopefully I will get it back tomorrow (but I think it will more like on Friday).

Cherie, My new carpets look great. Come on Sunday morning to "view" them. The dog next door has already peed on the carpet. It came in the house yesterday because of the thunder and lightening. Little sh^t.

Sorry to butt into your thread like this, I'm seeking a bit of advice about moving to Sandton and noticed that Cherianne lives there.

My partner has just found out that he is being posted to Jo'burg. We expect to arrive in July / Aug and stay for 2 years. We're quite concerned about crime - could you give me a bit of an insight about life in Sandton?

My partner's office is in the Fourways area. If I'm allowed to seek work on a dependant visa, it'll probably be in Braamfontein. Roughly how long would ourcommutes take?

My partner will be required to travel quite a bit with work. Do you think it's safe for me to drive around in the evening? I don't want to be stuck at home / have to rely on friends (as I don't know anyone in Jo'burg, this won't be an option for a while anyway).

I'm sorry for sounding paranoid, I guess only the bad news filters out. Logically I know that most people must live very happily in Jo'burg and I hope that I will too.

Any info will be very appreciated.

Sandton is pretty safe, but there are armed robberies and car highjackings. Your best bet would to try and make your appointment during the day time hours as there is less chance of being hit.

I think that Fourways is safer than Sandton. To commute to Braamofniten would take you an hour. There and an hour back. Our ethnics can pick out a foreigner easier than saying Jack Sprat.

SA is a beautiful country and has a lot going for it. You need to just keep your eyes open so that you can spot someone trying to assault you and grab your briefcse, cell phone and dark glasses. If you are awak about things, you should be fine
