Yes dear, the ultimate source is what matters and the Bible is laughing at you. Nowhere is polygamy prohibited in the Old Testament, in fact it commands it. The New Testament works don't expressly prohibit it either, but those works were written for populations that didn't practice it. Thanks for playing, but once again you are sadly mistaken in what you know.

I still don't understand the Exodus 21:10 verse, it says that if a man takes another wife, he still must adequately cloth and feed his first wife, he certainly can't do that if she is dead, and the verse doesn't mention any divorce at all.

That verse I mentioned is in the context and guidelines on how to sell ones daughter

Exodus 21:7 And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.

Why didn't Sky-God just say " absolutely no polygamy " in no uncertain terms? Situational ethics God

Oh please, tell me where it is commanded.

If you remember, the Pharisees asked Jesus why Moses permitted divorce. His answer? Because of the hardness of your hearts.

In other words, God addressed situations that we get ourselves into, and gave us guides to deal with them. Slavery would be another one.

Exodus 21:2-11 deals with the treatment of Hebrews sold as servants/slaves. Verse 10 is in reference to daughters sold as servants/concubines. Under Jewish law they are considered his wife.

Deuteronomy 25:

5 If brothers are living together and one of them dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family. Her husband’s brother shall take her and marry her and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her. 6 The first son she bears shall carry on the name of the dead brother so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.

7 However, if a man does not want to marry his brother’s wife, she shall go to the elders at the town gate and say,“My husband’s brother refuses to carry on his brother’s name in Israel. He will not fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to me.” 8 Then the elders of his town shall summon him and talk to him. If he persists in saying,“I do not want to marry her,” 9 his brother’s widow shall go up to him in the presence of the elders, take off one of his sandals, spit in his face and say,“This is what is done to the man who will not build up his brother’s family line.” 10 That man’s line shall be known in Israel as The Family of the Unsandaled.

You were saying, sweetie?

I don't believe there was any assumption that evolution was in any way (all of a sudden), it took hundreds of millions of years for humans to evolve. If you referring to the origin of our planet I believe that is over 4 billion years.

Indeed. Our tradition of monogamous marriages originates more with the Greeks and Romans.

They also had some form of same-sex partnerships.

Why not? With God all things are possible right? Maybe that's how God really does it.

Ans.
