I appreciate your tender heart. But it is hardly selfishness to willingly commit to the enormous responsibility and difficulty of raising that child. The folks that I know with challenged children (who, by the way, are happy children who grow into happy adults that still manage to contribute to society)that consider their children their highest gift and their greatest teachers.
Praise God for your beautiful words....I agree with you 100%

I so totally agree with you on this. There are so many children out there who are special in their own way and it takes a person or person's with a good and tender heart to take care of them and I am so glad that we have people out there who take care of these kids and adults as well. I have FAS and had I not had people who cared I probably wouldn't be doing as good as I am now. not to mention I wouldn't be doing the things that I am now such as talking with teens and talking to other parents who have children with FAS and giving them hope for their children.

Its a tough question but i know some people that are majorly handicapped and their lives are miserable. i wonder if its just the selfishness of the parent that forces their child to live this way instead of putting them out of their misery at birth once they know the child will not have a decent life?
Just out of curiosity, how much contact have you had with lower functioning children?

"At birth"? Do you believe that people should murder their low IQ and retarded children?

That is a very good question. I was wondering the same thing myself. I know plenty of children with low IQ's who turned out to be smart adults and who hold jobs not to mention they have children of their own.

Well as a retard myself (technically have a decent IQ, but have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), let me say this once only: YES, ABORT THE RETARDED!
Living like this is a nightmare, you have absolutely no idea. The lucky are those so severely retarded that they have no idea that anything is wrong, they are merely oblivious and childlike. Those with mild retardation are in for a world of shit. Here is what they have to look forward to...
People automatically avoid you, or laugh, and the few that do approach you want to either goof on you or take advantage of you. Some children will beat on the mildly retarded, and as for sex, it's better to just nueter folks like me. Chicks literally look at you like you are something from a horror movie, and that just does wonders for the psyche, let me tell you! And if you do by some chance find someone who will hang out with you, even have sex, it's even worse. You have ZERO options, so you fall completely in love with them even though they are just messing with you.
The retarded are evolutionary dead ends, and they should not be made to suffer. If possible, please, and I mean please, abort the retarded.
I have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome myself and you are very clueless as to what people like us can do. I mean come on. I live on my own and I help others in my community. I talk with teenagers about what causes F.A.S and how it affects children and it made them think and brought tears to their eyes the even talked with me one on one and asked me some personal questions and it made me feel good because I knew that it changed their way that they look at anyone who has a disability. They even because involved with the F.A.S Task Force that we had here.

Come on people. This was your idea to form this topic and now you aren't even commenting on it or anything. Goodness. Well I guess what I said made you guys all think about things and I hope that what I said made a difference in your opinion to abort low iq and retarded children (babies) I really hope that I did make a change in what you think about those of us who have disabilities and how smart we can be.

The question is should low IQ mentally challenged people be allowed to start idiotic threads in topix?

Well if you put them "out of their misery at birth," that would be murder.

Just because some people are mentally challenged doesn't mean that they are idiotic. You are just clueless as to how those who are mentally challenged feel and how much that they truly do understand. I mean come on we are all human beings and we all have feelings too.

Come on you guys. Wow I am amazed that hardly any of you are posting on here. What's wrong did I make a point that made you guys all think about what you are doing? Well good. Because like I said even though there are some of us with Low IQ's we can be pretty smart in some areas. This being one of them.

They probably just realize that people with limitations have a right to life just like so-called “normal” or healthy people. Prenatal tests cannot predict defects to a certainty, nor can they determine the severity of the disability. Why not let these children be born and have a chance to grow and accomplish what they can?

Anybody who says that it is OK to kill just certain people are probably only worried about their own self-interest anyways.
