I guess Commander and Chief means . . . sit around and wait until the media calls to let you know what is going on.

"If in fact laws were broken, there will be punishment."

What a hoot! Isn't this an (near) exact quote by Bush on the Scooter Libby/Dick Cheney CIA leak ordeal?

Facts are not in but lets condem them in the media. Putting their lives on the line for a bunch of Americans without spines.

Anyone who pays attention to more than just CNN and a newspaper will have enough unbiased common sense to see that we have a buck futter as President and a satanic troll as vice-president who actually is the one pushing the nuke button everytime a tragedy occurs on this continent. This way at last resort Bush will go down as a true disgrace, maybe even to prison but since Cheney took an oath to the devil he will get away scott free. I guess until all the old one-sided senior citizens who vote republican simply because it's a tradition pass away the truth and propoganda will still be dancing together. How sad.

Idiots have them in vehicles riding around as targets!

Young men on 2-3 tour of the BS seeing their buddies blown away!

What hell you expect to happen?

After a while you after being fired on or an explosion- you fire on anything in sight or moves.

If it hides then you dig it out and fire when it moves.

The only way for it not to happen is send fresh meat all hot wire on their FIRST TOUR to follow procedure.

Or not let the troops on their 2 plus tour have ammo while riding around as targets.

At first-- it will not be me killed, wounded but someone else, then it-- is it might be me, then it going to be be me but will take some bastards with me and to hell with rules about when to shoot or not to shoot--if someone shoots or set off a bomb then just kill everything around----maybe next time the people in the area will either warn you or a least done got the hell out dodge---and you will know some [email protected] is fixing to happen.

I do not blame the troops just the idiots having them riding around as targets,

The American servicemen are the biggest fools around if you ask me. Young and nieve. They go in being told what to do and believe. Oh that's real American. NOT. They fight wars started by this country and will kill innocent people as instructed. That's real patriotic. If you do your studies you will find that there's a long history of American soldiers raping and killing innocent people and even showing hostility simply because their superiors help nurtur the soldier's prejudice hate for foreigners. I especially know this through many stories by my own family members experiences. It's really sad what ACTUALLY goes on in the marines. Brainwashed stupid idiots who kill and get a medal of honor. Sounds like a deal with the devil to me.

I prefer the type of war that was waged in Serbia. Bombing from 5000ft no chance of GI casualties. No ground troops. Women, children were just collateral damage. No American casualties. The press had nothing to report as far as American war crimes. Maybe after 2008 we can get back to waging war the clean way.

There are no clean wars but when mistakes and crimes happen there are consequences. Without those consequences it would be even uglier. It is unfair in many ways to put these young soldiers in these incredibly uncivilized situations with there fellow soldiers who become family and then not expect things like this to happen but if a crime is committed the people responsible must answer including those so adept at escaping criticism their leaders just like it should have but didn't at Abu Graigh (bad spelling sorry).

That is unbelievable. As if your and my hands aren't dirtied by this and all wars on the face of this earth. Man, get a clue. It is NOT some video killing game that goes away when you turn it off. Real lives get killed, real minds get warped, real communities get forever changed--including ours. All of war is a crime.

I agree with you. It's too bad that Truman and LBJ are dead. Clinton should be held accountable for Serbia but that seems to be mean spirited. Putting underwear on ones head is the real crime.

When the Iran-Iraq war began, over a million very young men lost their lives in that war.

Henry Kissinger said at the beginning of that war,“I hope they kill each other”.

Did I just hear Joe Lieberman say Amen?

Do you think George has an opinion, or is he waiting for someone to formulate one for him?

This is sort of the same mentality that caused our troops coming home from Vietnam such hardship and pain that many still feel today.

AT NO TIME as the US military went to war because the military wanted to. Blame the politicians for failing to do their job.

Anytime you put that many people together to do a job, you are going to have some take advantage for personal gratification or gain. But don't blame the many for the actions of a few.

The soldier has to do what he is ordered to do, can you imagine any military where there are no orders but suggestions. I can see it now, Following the Pearl Harbor attack Roosevelt telling the military, "hey Japan attacked us, if you want to, go do something about it."

Perspectives, perspectives… soldiers have to believe in victory, that's all… like this whole thing… I see that some don't understand the end… but you do understand the means do you?

All the adminisration’s lawlessness since 9-11—now even overruling a Supreme Court decision—makes chilling a recent, little-publicized speech by Justice Anthony Kennedy on August 5 before the American Bar Association: The rule of law must be binding on all government officials; it must respect the dignity, equality, and human rights of every person, and it must guarantee people the right to enforce the law without fear of retaliation. If these administration amendments—mocking the American rule of law—are passed by Congress and, of course, signed by this president, who believes he is the law, they will be fought in court by a host of constitutional lawyers, including Scott Horton. When the case gets to the Supreme Court, I hope Justice Anthony Kennedy remembers the speech he made this summer while Bush's lawyers were setting up their three-card-monte game.

They believe they were born above the law. The law is a fence for sheep as far as they are concerned. Unfortunateley Bush is also a sheep, although it is not in certain peoples interest to have him realise that. In a way the whole administration are sheeps to their cause.

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

We have an army of lions, unfortunately the lead lions were caged by frat boys who used their families influence to avoid going to war yet they still believed they were better suited to make critical decisions then men trained for a lifetime for those very moments.
