What is Happening to Our Pop Music Divas?

It's kind of strange that the music divas that have been ruling the pop scene are all spiraling downhill.

The untouchable Lady Gaga, who two years ago was heading towards pop culture immortality, is now desperately trying to surpass a humongous flop that kicked her from the charts for the first time since "Just Dance" nearly five years ago.

Britney Spears, the so called undisputed pop princess, threw out an album that has been ignored by mostly everyone who breathes. Even her Vegas show is said to be seriously underperforming in ticket sales.

Christina Aguilera, once the most promising voice of the new millennium, would have been completely forgotten by now if not for her participation in "The Voice", grasping on collaborations with other artist just to stay afloat.

Shakira, the Colombian bombshell, is once again surviving on the fact one of her songs has been picked up for the world soccer championship in Brazil, otherwise not even her pairing with Rihanna would have saved her from the "Meh!" category she has been thrown into.

Mariah Carey is nowadays simply known as "Mariah who?". She probably set a record for the most released singles for an album that is still to see the light of day, none of which was acknowledged as anything else but as a dismal flop.

Even Miley Cirus, the newest thing around, is said to be having problems selling tickets for her world tour, being a far cry from selling out most venues.

Katy Perry, herself, has the spotlight on her for delivering an album which translated into disappointing sales, despite the fact that "Roar" was a massive hit.

Lastly, Rihanna is also facing her biggest career flop with "Right Now", which is shockingly bombing everywhere.

Only Beyoncé seems to be on top of the world with her hugely successful and acclaimed new album, along with the newcomer Lorde (who has still to prove her durability, nonetheless).

What is happening? What is the pop audience looking for these days? Have we finally grown tired of the pop paradigm for girl singers that has been around for decades?

Perhaps, because, a lot of their 'talent' was actually hype.

Media..., build them up, knock 'em down....

The actual real reason is this; these are not real artists, they are manufactured "pop products" – The real music artists, of the 60s 70s and into the 80's, seemed to be a thing of the past. The current generation like all the ones listed here, they are a engineered created product designed for quick mass consumption and they just burn out early because there's no genuine original talent or substance there.
That was a nice argument! But where to you put Madonna, for example? She might not be the powerhouse she was back in the 80's and 90's but she still sells out massive venues charging 200 USD per ticket or more. Why is her longevity so unharmed whilst others seem to fade a lot faster? I'd really like to hear your opinion on this one ...

Madonna [no I'm not a fan of her genre of music] has talent. She is not just a manufactured diva. She works, and it results in a product. Look at all the style changes she has used over the decades

She's of the 80's. Although she's manage to stick around an awful long time, for someone who just seemed to be a gimmick a gimmick at the time....a material girl. Lol
