A basic question for porn surfers.
Can you or can't you stop it?

I've never really understood "addiction" but then, I've never been addicted to anything. Alcohol, gambling, porn, I've dabbled in all of it but never felt driven. I think the closest to addiction I've ever come his with sex, but that once completely understandable! LOL I think, seriously, if someone has what is called an "addictive personality" that it's easy to form ingrained habits, and those are called addictions. Someone "can't stop" surfing for porn? Simple answer, get out of the house and away from the computer! Go out and actually do something with real people, or just go for a drive or something. Maybe I'm oversimplifying, I don't know; simple solutions from a simple mind!

I don't personally think it can be called an addiction unless it's something chemical, painkillers other drugs whatever, that's physically addictive for your body. Everything else, sex gambling you name it, that's more of a habit been an addiction and should be comparatively easy to change that behavior (comparative to a chemical dependency, I mean)

I have a friend who is very inclined in watching porn. He says it is his way of surpassing his urges.
Now i am sure 99% of you watched porn even once in your life.

Did you mean 'suppressing' his urges? That I kind of understand, I know somebody who watches underage porn (not the violent raping hurting kind, but the kind where the people involved are doing it willingly) he says that this helps him give vent to his urges and thoughts, especially if he has a friend of their two perform recreational sex with while watching it. He says otherwise he would be afraid that he might actually go out on act on it. That all reminds me of a news report I read somewhere that said the wide availability online of porn in general, has lowered the instances of assault and rape and child abuse in real life. I wonder how true that is, I also wonder how many flames I'm going to get and ugly names I'm going to be called for posting this! Yes, heaven forbid we should post a personal opinion on a public forum and spark intelligent discourse on an issue, on a board which is supposed to exist for that purpose.

If you meant "suppressing his urges" then I agree, it kind of gives a way to do harmless venting to things that would be socially acceptable to do IRL or for if you can't find someone willing to do it with you.
