It seems the authorities overlooked the obvious. IOWS, they never went through a scenario to consider all the possibilities or role playing. With all the technology and defense industry spending, the only thing that would have prevented 9/11 was to keep the hijackers off the planes in the first place. It seems we have been defected with IEDs and suicide bombers, both are very low-tech and inexpensive compared to what we do.
All these college age muslim men had been under surveillance for many years before by the entire intelligence community of the US.
Why were they allowed to board the aircraft when they were known terrorists under suspicion?
Like the government version of events you will say "what does it matter who was in charge of security?" It's a done deal.
