I admit to being a brainwashed Christian godbot who worships a mythical character from a plagiarized work of fiction based on a failed and rather silly scientific hypothesis and I've been living in denial of my mental illness for my entire adult life."
More parroting. Do you actually know how to do anything else other than go online repeating yourself and others over and over? Give me a scientific hypothesis on Religiosity in Cognitive Behaviour, in your own words, I'll know if you've used the internet for edited or non edited information, which is fine to do as long as you admit you have no idea. It's not the same scenario by switching roles and it was obvious where you were heading. Christianity is a cult that has become the most divisive political force in our country's history and seeks world domination. An anti-theist opposes religious cults that produce self righteous bigots. It isn't bigotry to oppose bigotry, kid.
Now that just shows a complete lack of education, don't you even watch or read the news? If there was even a smidgen of truth to what you're saying, your Government would not have removed God from schools and would not be lobbying to teach Evolution in primary schools. Parrot.

A bigot is someone who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.
An anti-theist is opposed to religious cults with hatred and violence inciting dogma that produce self-righteous bigots.
Anti-theism isn't a world view. It's the only humane position to hold in regards to barbaric theistic brainwashing.
You're too pathetically brainwashed to grasp the difference between conversion and de-conversion.
You should look up the meaning of the word 'bigot', "squawk!"

The terrestrial authors of the damn bible were a group of sexist, racist and homophobic men. It's not surprising that a stark raving mad insane lunatic would somehow use the study of religion as a cognitive phenomenon as a rationalization of your self-degrading cultist lifestyle. Organized religion has always been a means for a few to control the masses.

A more meaningful field would study why brainwashed godbots like you desperately cling to your Dark Ages dogma when any supernatural involvement in the origin of the universe has already been essentially ruled out. Of course, it's an addiction and Jesus junkies would rather live in ignorance with their inane delusions than bravely accept their mortality.

You really should stop making a complete ass of yourself on an international forum with your personal delusions and willful ignorance of science. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

In the damn bible belt, god hasn't been removed from public schools and students are appallingly being indoctrinated in creationism. Moderates are finally striking back and several Christian creationists were recently voted out of office.

I just posted the definition of bigot above. You should be in a mental institution. You're one of the most blissfully ignorant godbots to ever post in this forum which is quite an accomplishment.

Did I write I was "somehow" using the "study of religion as a cognitive phenomenon as a rationalization of my self-degrading cultist lifestyle"? No I did not. I asked for your scientific hypothesis. Do you know what an oxymoron is? You could have simply said you have no idea. How many times do you think you can say the same things just by rearranging your words? Interesting you should mention the 'dark ages', this at least, seems to be something you know about.

Sexist: Yes, women were second class citizens at best in most regions in antiquities and not just among the Israelites so this doesn't apply exclusively to the authors or the Bible.

Homophobic: God spoke about the immortality of homosexuality in Genesis and Paul wrote about all types of sexual immoralities in first Corinthians 6 9-11 however there is a big difference between "hey don't do this" and "kill all the [email protected]" or spreading a message of hate against them. In fact the Bible says to love your neighbor as you love yourself and even love your enemies (book of Romans).

According to Merriam-Webster homophobia is defined as: irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals.

I don't see any instance in the Bible of the authors acting in the described manner so this would be an assumption/prejudice based off of homophobic Christians who do exist today.

Racist, I can't think of one instance in the Bible where a persons race or nation or origin was the root of discrimination against them. Then again it's kind of hard to when it pretty much all takes place in the same region.

Even if the authors of the Bible could be attributed with these wrongs to say that because they were like that means all Christians, etc. are like that is prejudice in the highest and would be no more fair than me lumping you and every other atheist in with the likes of Mao, Pol Pot, and Stalin and it is that prejudice that is the base for the bigotry you espouse toward theists.

Why bother wasting space with such utter stupidity? There are no god genes and brainwashing isn't natural.

The great difference being that first you'd have to demonstrate that Stalin et al did so under the aegis of atheism. Such can be easily and abundantly demonstrated with the Bible. Passages from the Bible are, and have been, used to underscore incipient racism and homophobia for near 2000 years. As for misogyny - yes, there is nothing unique about the Bible on that score. Nothing whatever. Pity, that.

I would never lump the all (insert group real or perceived here) together anyway as I'm not prejudiced.

It's a mighty puny God that can be so easily "removed" to hither and yon.

>My government< did not "remove God" from anything - our Constitution only requires that no particular religion be endorsed over any other. No child is proscribed from doing anything his faith moves him/her to do, so long as they do so privately and ask no special dispensation. You are confusing the failure of the family and church with the right to freedom of conscience.

We also don't "lobby" to teach evolution - we do and will teach Science. It is the religionists who are doing the "lobbying" to teach fancy and fable as Science to one and all, regardless of belief.

That is wonderful, truly, if it's so. I'll take you at your word.

However, you cannot assign your tolerance to all of Christianity, either, now can you? History is what it is, friend. Would that it were otherwise, in this case.

You are right, there are Christians who are very intolerant unfortunately. They remind me of the pharisees of old in that they see the sin in others and completely forget the core lessons of love and compassion that they let themselves be consumed by hate. Did you know that according to the Bible to hate your brother (fellow human) is the same as murdering him in God's eyes?
