In August 2009 I had "ventral hernia repair surgery". My medical records indicate that the surgeon used Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson) Proceed Surgical Mesh PCDN1 APG694.
On 03/31/11 I felt tremendous pain near my scar & had to have an abscess beneath my scar drained and "infected mesh" excised. The lab reports indicated that I had "MRSA, Staphylococous aureus".
Each surgery was over $50,000. and I'm told I'll need a 3rd. I also have home nursing costs as well, most is covered by insurance.
I see tht Ethicon recalled a different lot # & product code of Proceed surgical mesh. Has anyone heard anything about the product/lot used on me?
Can anyone provide any insight or refer an attorney to consult? have a case? Thank You,
Thank you.

In Feb of 2009 I also had the Ethicon PCDN1 patch 10x15 procced mesh surgery in July 2010 I went back to the surgeon and informed him It has torn he did not beleive me until my CT scan showed a very small tear he proceeded to tell me that the mesh had a defected spot and placed 3 stitches and sent me home by Feb of 11 I also have been fighting mrsa infections both in my vagiagal area as well as under my arm that they say has spread to my hair follicules not. I wasn't sure how this had happened since I have never had this type of infection before very painful.. Now I have a complete tear across my adomaln and another surgery to look forward to how could this have happened. Upon reading your message about MRSA sparked in me a reaon why I keep getting this infection 4 out breaks this year alone including one right now. I have looked for recalls but find it hard to locate any pertaining to what I have implanted but the fact that I am now on my third surgery I have major bowel issues and have lost so much weight I am now down to 119 which i was over 150 when my first surgery was performed..please if you have any info I so would like to hear since I feel so alone in this and can't take any more..Lancing of cysts and the pain in my adoman has increased.

I just spoke to a laywer who stated that the time limit is 2 years I see that as another huge let down. I have only begun to find out the complications my mesh surgery has been causing besides the pain of not one but going on my third due to what the DR stated was defected to began with instead of putting a few stitches and calling it a day he should have removed the mesh and replaced it with one that will hold now my I again will have to go under the knife to remove the 10x15 mesh which now has had 2 years for the tissue growth and more pain involved..I am only beginning to find out the issues, or at least putting things together major weight loss due to no appitite, bowel issues which the ER dr can't identfy just that my left bowel doesn't look right and the worst is MRSA I have been fighting since dec of 10 that has spread to many outlets since they state it will burrel through you body finding any way to spread. then I am told my limitions for a lawsuit has expired since my first surgery was in 09 how can that be when many medical issues don't arise until much later. I am at a loss how can I endure a 3rd surgery and I am the only one keeping my family a float since my husband has sever medical conditions himself how can they get away with this..

Hello Patricia, The statute of limitations for product liability is 4 years. It is different for medical malpractice depending on the state you live in. But one very important thing to know is, the statute of limitations does not start until the date you knew, or should have known, mesh is the problem. If you had mesh, but did not know it was the source of your complications, your time starts when you knew it was the source of your problems. Hope this helps. All the best, blessings, Lana

Thousands of women are currently experiencing the complications of vaginal mesh implantation. Because of the gravity of the symptoms they undergo, most of them have resorted to court filings of a vaginal mesh lawsuit in different courts across the United States.

While the FDA waits for further proof that these devices are dangerous women are suffering and are faced with the harsh complications caused by the meshes. I saw that someone, you referred to him/her as the mole, said that the complication rate is 2-3%. That is only true for certain type of surgeries. If I'm not mistakes that percent is for stress urinary incontinence surgery with mesh done abdominally. If the surgery is performed transvaginally that rate is higher and the complication rate for pelvic organ prolapse surgery is the highest if I'm not mistaken. All these statistics are based on different research and trials, the reality might differ.

It's good to hear that the FDA is taking an action regarding the safety issues involving mesh devices. Most women enduring the effects of a prolapsed bladder, urinary incontinence, and other similar problems agree to go through surgery using bladder or mesh sling devices in the hopes of being relieved of the pain and discomfort caused by these disorders. These implants, however, have reportedly caused more injuries and pain to some patients. Related information at http://www.bladderslingrecall.us could be a good reference for those concerned and interested.

Despite the complications associated with bladder mesh devices, some medical practitioners still think of a recall to be extreme, saying that there are still women who may benefit from these implants. However, the number of complaints received by the FDA implies otherwise. More information about mesh devices and related issues may also be found at http://www.bladdermeshlawsuit.us

Bloomberg Report: J&J Discloses Government Investigations of Hips, Mesh

Potential criminal activities of Johnson & Johnson are being reported by Bloomberg relating to synthetic surgical mesh and metal hip implants. Sadly, this will not bring back the lives of hundreds of thousands are already harmed. Myself and other patient advocates have been feeding information to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Office of Criminal Investigation (OCI) of the U.S. Food and Drug Adminsitration (FDA) and anyone else who would listen for several years now. They can't get the horse back in the barn now!!

Praise God the truth is going to be told. Please send this to everyone you know. You may just save a life from being ruined! Thank you for getting the news out there. We have to protect each other because it is obvious some Pharmaceutical Companies have defrauded the FDA, Doctors, Hospitals and the American Public!

God bless America!! Yours truly, Lana C. Keeton

I wonder how these medical devices have even reached the market in the first place. I read some posts at bladdermeshlawsuit.us/ transvaginal-mesh-recalls/ and most of these mesh implants have been linked to serious complications at some point after surgery. It may come as no surprise if more and more women are pursuing legal action.

i had a bilateral inguinal hernia done 3/5/2013 I have had painin my pubic area since the surgery sometimes quite intense and very frequent burning sensations that last sometimes or days, also shooting pains to both testicles abdominal pain and swelling.on several occasions before the surgery i advised the dr I was allergic to petroleon based products. I dont know what the deal is but i continue to have flareups inthe areas where i had surgery.i have lowgrade fevers most of the time,i have seen three drs, and advised them of this the second ran a c-scan and an ultrasound, and said he didnt see anything wrong except i have three messed up vertebra in my spine l3,l4, and l12 he said that could be what is causing the pain. i advised him the backproblem i have had since 1998 and it sure wouldnt account for any of the other symtoms he said he could send me to pain management and i could get a pain block but idnt see how that will help.i dont see it helping with the nausea when my testicles start hurting, or the fever.and i dont want to have to go and get a shot every couple of weeks. there is definitely somthing wrong, i finally got another drto get an approval via a lawyer for an mri but i dont know the results of that yet. I am at the point i dont beleive a damn thing these drs, say and not that i would know what i amm looking at but none of the three has shown me the tests. And i did get the prolene polypropholene mesh installed and no the dr did not tell mewhat he was putting in me ahead of time.

I have had this mesh implanted in me back in 2002.
The attorney's I have spoken with say that the statue is 10 years and it is now 2013.
I have had on-going medical problems now since 2005, but that does not count according to lawyers in Atlanta Georgia.
The medical community had no idea of what was happening to me, so the statue part is not my fault.
These have been my symptoms:
Severe neuropathy to where I cannot walk without heavy pain medications.
Abdominal pain
Lower back pain
Severe spasms.
Rashes and welts all over my body from mesh rotting and poisoning my body.
Severe Muscle spasms
Infections that won't go away.
Prolapse, organs coming out of private area's.
Insomnia from midnight pain.
If anyone knows of a good law firm who will take this case or if there is a class action law suit for Atrium hernia surgical mesh please email me immediately. pamkley@live.com
