Yall stop talking about our barking. It's not woof its rawer. You got it now? And we don't like no 50 pound bag. That wouldn't even fit in my belly! I love how the dog food slips through my gums. We dont need no teeth. My daddy says my gums make him feel better! I be typing with my tongue cause i aint got no arms. Me grandma mite be the only one who didn't sleep with their brother but that dont matter csuse we a cool family. We can bond like no oter family their is. We can sleep together, eat on the floor together, count our ABC's together, and bark together! The only time we dont spend time together is when im hangin from a tree.

I have been there once about ten years ago, there was a little boy that was trying to be in the car as we stopped to ask him for directions, he didnt bark however he did run after the car screaming "take me with you". The house he was in front of had no electricity hook ups and no plumbing, but a creek ran under it. Yep, Odd WV...

You know, the easiest way to have friends is to be rich, educated and have answers to life's questions. And the easiest way to be laughed at is to be poor, uneducated and have health and social problems. But the most important thing to remember is that the old saying, "what goes around, comes back around". Be careful how you treat, and what you say about this family, you may be laying the groundwork for your family. The slur, inbred: it has been in Kings Castles and pauper's cabins. It has been In all family's in the past, and will be again in the future. So don't get so self righteous, you, your kids, or grandkids may be the next Whitakers from an odd place.

If anybody wants to see ODD they can come to the Urban city of Syracuse, NY anytime. I'd rather live in the country again anyday. What with all the zombie-like creatures outside at night addicted to crack and heroin shooting and stabbing one another, burglaries, robberies, and rape...This city is going to Hell. I actually think a lot of this comes from the movie 'The Wrong Turn'. How do you think these people are going to feel? Karma people. What goes around comes around. ;)

You are all a bunch of morons! No, I'm not talking about the Whittakers either. I think you all have a $#!/ life and picking on them is a way for you to cope with your $#!/ Life. Just saying people! Grow th F- up, no one is forceing you to talk , like, or go near the Whittakers. How F-ing hard is that.

My friends and I drive through Odd, West Virginia tonight trying to find another friends house. We took a wrong turn down a narrow, paved road. About a mile down there were about 12 or 13 people walking around in the two yards on each side of the road. An old woman on the side holding a golf club, trying to hit my car with it. We kept going down the road, pretty freaked out and came to a dead end with a coal mine at the end. So we turned around to back track where we had came from and they had a car blocking the road screaming at us telling us we shouldn't be on their property. And walking around my car. A large woman was on the phone with the police, the old lady came up to my car, looking into my windows, and a man telling us to leave them alone and leave. I couldn't leave they had us trapped! They got my license plate number and went to the car behind us and started yelling at them and hitting their car and told us and the other car that the police were on their way that we better hope we got away quick that they just wanted to be left alone. All in all it was pretty scary. But I don't think they would harm anyone, and they were not barking, and they did not look deformed. They just acted differently. But I do believe tonight we found the Whittaker's.

Me and my mom just came back from Odd Rd (Tommy Creek) and saw an old lady - crossed eyes - smoking a cig. she was walking across the rd to the other house and almost WALKED INTO OUR CAR! Then we turned around at the Good Hope Freewill Church - out of the corner of our eye we saw a man - stringy hair - hunched over (didnt see his face) ran into the other house... really creepy! Is it true about them chasing and throwing things?

I have family the live in odd and got married at odd church. The stories are highly exaggerated to say the least. I know people that are friends with the family and have been there myself. When people drive by and they are outside they hide because of the people that come and tormented them in the past. It is true that they are different and have endured a strange lifestyle, but they are people none the less.

I grew up in Odd and have known the Whittaker family most of my life. The stories of barking at strangers, throwing sticks and cinder blocks at people and other such things are severly exaggerated and quite frankly are insulting and degrading not only to the Whittakers but to every citizen of the Appalachian mountain region.

Thank you for your comments. I grew up in Odd from 1958-76 and we passed by their home on our way to church. They were a nice family in need and never caused any problems for our family. My parents taught us to be kind, try to help and accept others. Evidently there are cruel hearted people in this world who prey on folks like this and make fun of them. They are the ones displaying pathetic behavior in my opinion.

The Whittaker Family deserves more respect than some of the comments on here and some of you consider yourself a Christian? Not very Christlike to behave like this. Please be kind.
