Why Do A Lot of Restaurant Servers Think That Condiments Aren't Important?

I just don't know how many times that servers in restaurants are just IGNORING when you order condiments it seems. Sure sometimes servers do just forget things, but most of the times are NOT mistakes, they are not even comparing their written orders to the food. Also, at times I didn't even have to tell them and they just say "I will bring you your ranch in a moment" and then don't APOLOGIZE even for making me wait, WHY?

Why don't mostly all servers not apologize for this, yet, I am NICE about it and tell them "THANK YOU" when they bring it?

Why does this happen so often? Why are you servers WANTING to run yourselves rather than checking the food *BEFORE* leaving the kitchen OR offering to bring them out ahead of time to avoid another server or food runner from ignoring them or forgetting(more likely not checking the order since it's not their tip on the line)?

I just would like to know WHY does this happen **********SOOOOOOO OFTEN**********

I mean for example, last weekend, my husband and I went to a restaurant out of town added a side of ranch to ONE appetizer and this was when they opened, not during a busy time or anything. OUR waiter brought it out without the ranch. I was nice about it and he did fix it right away, but he didn't apologize, YET I STILL said "THANK YOU" to him.

Then we went to another restaurant, I ordered 3 sides of mayo, 1 side of mustard, and 1 side of ranch. She brings one mayo and that's it. No sorry to speak of either and there's NO WAY SHE COMPARED THE WRITTEN ORDERS TO THE FOOD?

There's NO WAY that our waitress verified the order, because if she would have, she wouldn't have missed ALL of those missing items when we were only a party of 2 and it wasn't busy either.

WHY do you servers NOT "CARE", but *EXPECT* "US" TO "CARE" about that you servers only make $2.13/hr? I mean, first the servers should at least *TRY* to get the orders correct. Secondly, they should apologize for mistakes that they make?

I don't stiff for this, but I sure do lower the tip some and if I don't get a sorry which *IS* MOSTLY ALMOST ALWAYS, I LOWER THE TIP *MORE*, because they are being mean. Why don't you servers "care" about what you are doing?

I know sometimes it's busy, but how hard is it to first, BE NICE and secondly, actually "CARE" about what you are bringing out to the customer for things like that, and thirdly, WHY RUN YOURSELVES?

Also, WHY do you servers at times don't "WRITE" things down? 9 times out of 10 when servers don't write things down, things get forgotten.

I start at 20% could go to 25%-30% if the service is really good, so don't think I am cheap. I am asking for everything at once actually thinking about my server's tired feet and feelings as well by ordering it *WITH* my food, yet, I am getting A LOT even from the same server that took my order condiments forgotten. Sure I know we all make mistakes, but most of the times I truly feel that these servers aren't verifying anything. I think if they would have, I would get a "Sorry about that."

At times I have asked for the condiments ahead of time, but the thing is, that's making their tip FOR THEM per say and I don't feel I should have to do that. It's ridiculous that this happens SO OFTEN.

WHY you servers don't care, but then expect us to care about your tip?

Once at a Chili's I asked FOUR TIMES, that's right,*FOUR* TIMES for a side of bbq sauce and a side of ranch. When I originally ordered, then a waiter that ran the food didn't have it. I told him nicely about it, he didn't go get it. Then as our waitress was filling waters at another table, she saw I wasn't eating and I had told her the waiter didn't bring them, but that I had told him about it. She didn't get them. My husband asked a manager FINALLY after 4 minutes of waiting to eat. Her tip was 9%.

Do you servers understand that condiments are REALLY IMPORTANT? I mean a mistake is one thing, but most of the times it's not mistakes, it's laziness and being uncaring.

Your name should be "Very Difficult Customer". It seems you are one of those who enjoy making a server's job hard just because you might leave a tip (not guaranteed). "3 sides of mayo, 1 side of mustard, and 1 side of ranch"? Really? Do you snort when you eat? I hate sitting next to people like you in a restaurant. Your antics make my dining experience less than enjoyable and sometimes down right unbearable. A tip and your "Thank you" do not entitle you to behave so badly in public. Just belly up to the trough and try not to squeal, sPrInGs1.
Your name should be "LAZY", because it's not difficult to get some condiments and you know it.

I am not making it hard. That's their *JOB* to do as the customer orders.

Who said anything about behaving "badly" when I have already explained I am *NICER* THAN THEY ARE, HUH?

There are no demands. Where are you getting "DEMANDS" from? I am *NICE* when I ask for things.

Why should I have to if you want my money at the end called a tip?

<quoted text> I had a table of people like you once. I dropped their order on the floor next to their table, commented that since they behaved like pigs they could eat like them too and quit after apologizing to my other tables for having to endure the "animal show".
You are VERY MEAN!

You are paying for the meal. The price doesn't make you owner of the restaurant or its staff. You'd be wearing your drink in your lap if you took that attitude with me... accidentally, of course. "OH, I am so sorry! Really! May I bring you another?"
NO, I am paying the **********TIP********** YOU STUPID IDIOT! THE ***SERVICE**** I AM PAYING FOR! Don't you get that or what?

I do *OWN* THE SERVICE IF I AM ***PAYING*** FOR IT. SO YES, I OWN THAT TIME THERE DUMMY! MY MONEY MAKES ME OWN MY TIME THERE IDIOT!

I own the server while I am there if they want my tip at the end they do as *I* say. I OWN THE SERVICE because MY *TIP* IS PAYING FOR ME TO OWN IT.

That's why servers have no rights to do things without your permission like get you refills or water without your consent, because it's *YOUR CONSENT* because *YOU* are *PAYING* for the service, NOT THEM! It's not up to them if I want a refill, the check, a glass of water, etc. That's up to the *CUSTOMER* since they are *PAYING* for their time not to be wasted called a tip.

So much anger... over not getting ketchup?
No, I HATE ketchup. Yes it's a lot of anger because it happens SOOOO FREAKIN OFTEN. I mean if it was once in a while, I can handle it, but it's like almost every single time I eat out.

Perhaps it's a conspiracy by waitstaff? They know you are going to be difficult so they spite you the only way they can... by depriving you of your condiments and making you beg for it. A devious bunch.
But I am not being difficult. No, I don't think on purpose they are making more trips to the table. Seriously, you are dumb!
