Thats why i find it funny they are calling Atheists as escapers from sins and judgements. Oh well, these people, when they dont disagree with your belief they will always find a reason (no matter how lame it is) to throw at you :)
PS
Im no atheist.
I may or may not be an "atheist", depending on which of several definitions you choose.

It doesn't matter, really-- all I ask for, is proof for any and all claims made, before I'll conditionally accept them as valid.

That's it.

Simple, really-- not complicated in the least.

For proof, I'll accept anything that is both objective and repeatable/testable.(can be measured)

If it cannot be measured? It's not real--by definition.

But never mind all that-- I have yet to meet someone who believes in supernatural stuff, who does not have some moldy-old book that they think is an authority on the subject.

Why is that? Why is an old book required?

Why cannot these ... gods... make modern contact with people?

I never ever get an answer to that one...

I can mostly agree with that, but I would also have to point out that the vast majority of people do that - they will find something, ANYthing, that they can use to puff themselves up. Even atheists do it, claiming that the fact that they are atheists makes them SO much smarter than theists. The mere fact that, statistically speaking, they are most likely right has no bearing on the case.
As an atheist, I know that there are theists who are much smarter then me. But no matter how smart they are, it is hard to respect them, when 1-they claim that their god exist without evidence
2-defend books that call for sexism, hate, and intolerance,
3-post dumb things like saying that fossils were put on earth by the devil to deceive us.

But there is no reason to think that-- none-- apart from mental sickness, of course.
As for sin? I do not sin-- not by any authority I recognize, such as the US Constitution.
Your bible? Not relevant-- legally, the bible is not an authority over anyone, least of all me.
That no establishment clause in the aforementioned US Constitution.

False. I grew up in church, went multiple-times a week for most of my life.

Yet? After reading the >>whole<< bible? I became an atheist...

... you ought to try that: read ALL of the bible, not just the 1% you've been given to read.

It'll melt your ears...
kayla wrote:

Are you, really? I know of a large contingent of small kids, who were forced to attend church, and were subsequently molested by the church's leadership.... who were then whisked away to do it all again in another unknowing parish...

... where was your god THEN? Why did not your god STOP these pedophiles in their tracks, by showing the local police what they were doing?

Is that TOO MUCH to ask of your god? To help STOP child abuse in it's tracks, by helping the police find the perps?

Apparently...!
kayla wrote:

Well... your god certainly does HIDE himself from anything useful...

... how about all the STARVING KIDS around the world? Do you think THEY believe, as they die from starvation?

All that your god would need to do? Is... MAKE IT RAIN...

.. but apparently THAT is too much, too...!
kayla wrote:

Are all the little kids who STARVE TO DEATH going to hell too?

Just curious..... your god cannot FEED them, so I guess he doesn't like them either, so it's OFF TO HELL for them, too...
kayla wrote:

Yes... that is true. You appear to be one of the mean ones--

--- you happily condemn STARVING KIDS to an early grave-- then on to HELL FOREVER.

That >>is<< pretty mean of you...

I pity you a bit. I ma glad that I left religion at age eighteen. My awakening was when I read the book The Secret Origins Of The Biblehttp://www.amazon.com/Sec ret-Origins-Bible-Tim-Callahan /dp/0965504786, a book which exposed the many lies, contradictions, and the heartless nature in the Buybull. Even then I refused to be an atheist(I was 13 at that point)Then I watched the movie on the Scopes Monkey Trial and realized the extent of Christian nastiness. How these loving Godbots wanted to destroy a man's life just for teaching evolution. Then, I discovered the two contradictory stories of creation in the buybull.
At this point, my twin told me that he did not believe in God. He told me that belief in the creation was not consistent with belief in evolution. I called him a blasphemer, but he was right. The reality was that I was a atheist all but in name. The only thing that was stopping me from fully declaring myself was the thought of not having a divine being who punishes wicked people. It scared me then and still scares me now-the thought that evil people like Stalin and Ivan the Terrible could kill so many people and get away with their crimes.
When I went to college, I took a class in religion. My pro asked completely reasonable questions like; "If we have free will, then how could God know things in advance?"Why does a good God allow innocent children die? Why do we inherit original sin from what we did not commit
Watching xtians fumble and mumble in response was what convinced me to announce myself openly. I realize that scaring people to do good by the thought of hell has not stopped wars and genocides from happening. In fact, we've had less wars and oppression while we are getting less religious. I realized a truly just God would not allow for the deaths of newborn infants or allow people to be born with disabilities.

What was the point/s that finally convinced you to get better, if you don't mind me asking?
Was there a particular book that opened your eyes the way the Secret Origins Of the Bible did for me?

It was a long road, a variety of things.

I was originally raised in Fundie-Xianist church-- a match that was not well-made-- I never did fit in there.

In fact? I often got to spend "sunday school" out in the hall, for asking what I thought were reasonable questions about the day's "lesson"....

... but nevermindthat, my family escaped that tragic lifestyle about the time I was ready to chuck it all, and go off on my own, religiouslessly (ifyouwill... heh)

About the time I graduated HS, my family jumped ship, and joined Methodism, one who's theology was a whole order of liberal--especially in contrast to the shytstorm we'd left behind.

That put off the oncoming storm for a few years, I naturally left home for college, and I left religion behind too, pretty much, in that I had little or nothing much to do with any of it. Did not give it any thought, one way or another, really. An occasionally dalliance for special events, that sort of thing.

I was pulled back for awhile, years later, by becoming involved in a local theater group at my parent's church-- that was fun. But by this time, I had chucked 99% of the BS, in favor of a loose sort of Deism. The liberal Methodist people did not care, neither did they condemn me in any way for that view--in fact? Many of the ministers (of whom I became friends with) were as Deist as I was--firmly rejecting all the usual biblical-BS as primitive.

That lasted for a number of years. I gradually realized that a Deist god was no better than no god. In-between, I took some college-level bible-study courses, more than one, which were eye-openers for me. The biblical origins were explored, which caused me to realize no deity would have put up with the ugly bible as-is.

So either the bible isn't important? Or there is no god who gives a shyt about it continuing to promote evil in the world.

There is too much bible-inspired evil in the world, for any god who is good, to have suffered to allow it to continue.

Thus? No good gods, or gods who care, are left-- uncaring gods? F88ck'em, says I-- if they don't care about us, why should we care about them?

I do remember one definitive moment in time: George Bushy 2.

His legacy is so full of evil, yet he played the God-game extremely well the whole time, without a falter, without a blink.

What sort of god would permit such as Georgie to represent him, and then go and do the evil things George went and did?

The more I thought about the various leaders of the world? The more I realized just how much these people used religion as a power over stupid people, JUST to KEEP themselves in power.

Again, what sort of god would permit such, if said god cared?

Answer: none would.

So, I have eliminated all good gods from the picture.

I have dismissed indifferent gods... with extreme indifference. <grin>

So that leaves the evil gods.

What if there are gods, and they are all evil?(Someone asked me once.)

Well... I look about the world, I see the unbounded happiness of humans--even in the face of abject poverty, I see humans managing to find themselves happy anyhow.

I look around, I see beautiful art, amazing music, incredible works of fiction, subtle beauty everywhere I care to look. Even in the midst of horrible tragedy, I can find wonder, beauty, incredible human capacity for helping one another.

In short?

The world ain't a bad place to be--even if you are not the richest-of-the rich.

And that?

That is my argument that there are no evil gods, either.

:)
