yes, you see how much in trouble mankind really is in, we ALL need Gods help.
I'll get right on that 'god' helping me thing as soon as $50 million lands in my lap and I become extremely rich for no reason...

the real blessing is in believing without the need for proof. what kind of faith is it if proof was the only basis for believing ?
Faith the is substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
Have you ever seen the space shuttle in the sky? but you believe it's there, right? you don't need proof.
Now the only question is this:

Are you knowingly and willingly LYING, even though you know that Jesus is a false god, or are you still deluding yourself and actually bowing down to a man made false god?

Oh, and I have seen the sunlight reflected off of the shuttle when it flew overhead at the right time of the evening, back when we were still launching them. If I had had the proper telescope, I could have actuallly seen the shutle itself. Too bad you don't understand the difference between objective and subjective...

Ah, but I am without sin, so I don't need to worship your little false god.

And my relationship with the TRUE Divine is just fine.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Hey, I'm not even asking for money. All I want is for that tiny little piece of rock to move from whatever box it is currently hiding in to my dinner table. Although, as I think about it, if I had $50 million just magically appear on my dinner table instead of that rock, then I could start preaching the word in style!

On a somewhat related matter, we lost Neil Armstrong today.

Yeah, I heard. Very depressing, especially if you start to think about how long it has been since he walked on the Moon and what we have done since then. Damn it, we should have had men on Mars by this time, and people living on the Moon!

Oh, I dunno! I think I can understand the delay. Consider the job description ....

The first line says; "Strap yourself to the top of a rocket ..."

That eliminates a lot of people including myself right away.

Massive FAIL on your part.
No, massive FAIL on your part.

You stated:

"I used to believe everything I was told, including believing in God; but then people told me to stop believing everything I'm told and to use the brain that God gave me to think for myself.
>>>So I did<<<, and now I'm an atheist."

Not the highlighted ">>>So I did<<< (use the brain that God gave me to think for myself).

So it happens, you flubbed it.

I forget who stated it, but one of the women astronauts, just prior to the space shuttle that blew up with her on it, was asked how safe she felt going into space, replied something like, "How would you feel knowing you are going into space in a rocket made by the lowest bidder?"

No, you are still the one who failed.

"So I did" refers to me using my brain and thinking about it all. Prior, I believed in God. After, I did (and still do) not. They are the ones who claimed that God gave it to me.

Wow, and you seemed like one of the smarter ones.

I am christian and I believe many people do not believe in God for many reasons. Many do not believe because they think, scientifically, and need concrete proof. Some because they are cynical, others because they see everyday the pain of this world and dont see how a God figure would allow it. In my opinion, others dont believe because they want to rebel against a society that primarily does believe. Others because they believe the idea of a god figure is simply a tool used by mankind to counteract the fear of death. Some because they see the atrocities done in the name of God and they shutter.I am Christian and I believe in God but I still fear death. Using the blanket of a religion to attempt to blind oneself into believing that you should not fear death due to the idea of "everlasting life" is foolish. Because you are denying one simple fact YOU WILL DIE, and until you accept that one day you will feel great pain, go cold, struggle for breath, breathe no more you will always fear it, no matter how much you say "Oh no I dont fear it because I'm going to heaven". I believe in God and the teachings of Jesus Christ but to say I dont fear death would be lying to myself and saying I KNOW that their is a heaven is lying to myself as well, I BELIEVE but I dont KNOW. And that is perfectly natural in my opinion, to fear the unknown. That is my problem with religion, I believe in God but I dont know for a fact if he's up their, that is faith. So many people down here KNOW, "I KNOW GOD IS ALLAH" "I KNOW GOD IS JESUS" " I KNOW GOD WANTS MY PEOPLE TO INHERIT THE PROMISED LAND" "I KNOW GOD APPROVES OF MARTYDOM IN HIS NAME" "I KNOW GOD WANTS ME TO PUNISH THESE DISBELIEVERS AND TRANSGRESSORS" if everyone would just stop owning their beliefs and just say " You know what I believe their is a God and I hope he's up their but to be perfectly honest I dont KNOW if he's up their or not" the world would be in a much better state than it is right now.
You dont fear death if you truly believe in GOD. And those that dont believe dont want to take responsibilty for their actions they always want to blame someone or something for thier actions. Because they are never to blame and believeing in GOD means takeing resposibilty for their actions. Because that is how i was.

I'd go right now if they'd let me...

But the BIG problem is the politicians, too stupid and short sighted to see that we need to develop NEW real estate.
