What if you were suddenly faced with not knowing how you will pay your mortgage/rent, utilities, car note, insurance and provide food for your family next month, because you won’t receive your veterans pension or social security disability check by the end of this month? In less than 24 hours, the U.S. Government faces default on its debts if the interests is not paid, and also a bill addressing the debt ceiling crisis not passed in the House and Senate. If Congress and the White House cannot reach a deal a minute prior to midnight, October 17, people like my sister who is a retired veteran won’t receive her pension, my 72-year-old mother won’t receive Social Security as well as food stamp benefits, and thousands more government workers will be furloughed.
