Bill Clinton signed NAFTA which caused millions of jobs to go overseas. That is why we are going through a recession. Nobody has jobs because of Bill Clinton. Do not blame Bush for Clinton's mess.

At the same time, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were going through a crisis. In 2003 and 2004, an accounting scandal was revealed. The two public-private partnerships were cooking the books to show phantom profits. The Bush administration and its allies on the Hill pushed a strong bill to reform how these institutions operated. The measure came very close to passing, but Fannie and Freddie cut a deal. They would refocus on expanding mortgages for low-income borrowers if the feds kept out of their operations. The bargain worked. Virtually all the Democrats and a few Republicans backed the two companies and the reform effort failed.

I think the blame lies in both parties.

You cannot only blame the Executive branch. Congress is highly to blame for all of this, which up until two years ago, was vastly Republican.

Even now the Congress is a majority of Democrats but only a slight majority. During Clinton's time and most of GW's time there was a huge majority for the Republicans in Congress. This cannot be discounted as the legislation is created in Congress, the Prez only signs the bills into law (or vetos them if he is sure that Congress cannot do an override), he does not write them.

I am far from a OBAMA supporter. I support Ralph Nader for president.

You can blame Bill Clinton for all of this because he was the pesron that had the signature on the NAFTA bill. He alone signed that bill to be enacted. American jobs have never been the same after NAFTA. Americans dont have any places to work now because many of our jobs went overseas. Our country does not make products anymore and that is why this country is through. You cannot be on top if you dont produce any goods.

No Marty, don't bother. Just quietly pack up and leave.

Yo Republicans! You are absolutely right! This is the work of liberal Democrats. If we had just had more Republican guidance in the last decade, we'd be in good shape now. If Republicans could only have had a say in the running of the government since Clinton's day, when he wrote and signed irrevocable legislation in the nineties that is responsible for the current mess today notwithstanding repeated warnings from the wise Republican legislators in the legislative branch. Even Bush, who got the Constitution overturned, was helpless to stop it, despite a valiant and heroic effort.

And Carter is responsible for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It was Reagan, Bush and Bush again who warned us, but who had been powerless to prevent the damage already done in the seventies by the Carter dynamo.

Go McCain! Deliver us from liberal incompetence and malice.

The same faulty logic you used in your first post. The Government is a three legged stool. The executive branch is only one of them. If you think that NAFTA was solely the idea and responsibility of the Prez at the time, you are not the smart person you want other to believe.

By this logic since GW is currently in office, he is solely responsible for everything wrong with the country (pick a topic there are of course lots to choose from) including the financial crisis we are currently having.

This is simple math, 2+2 style. I actually agree that NAFTA has caused MASSIVE issues. But your claim is ludicrous.

Well you will be wasting your vote. All that will do is give an edge to Obama. Think about it.

Use your pea brain. Your lack of intelligence is showing through your words. I am done wasting my words on you. If you are too dumb to realize that a president can veto any legislation that comes to his desk than you need to relearn government. I wouldnt expect a person like you to understand much in the world though. Mental midgets do exist. You are proof of it.

How is voting for Ralph Nader gonna give Obama the edge. If anything that will give McCain the edge. I would rather vote for a third party than to vote for the republicrats. The republicans and democrats are bought and sold by corporations.

with the corporations running things,
it was bound to happen sooner or sooner yet.

with corporations having such an ultra disproportionately large percentage of the economy, economic implosion was only a matter of time.

corporations are not the same as a REGULAR business.

Well that is a wasted vote, not even on the ballot in all the states.
