You are very welcome, Redoran!

Now for another lie that Christians spew...

When I lost my stepdad almost a year ago, I listened to his family saying, "God's in charge of all; just have faith all will be ok." OK? He was dead for petesake, and the implication of their statements was that God caused it because of some plan.

Now, my mother has cancer and will be having surgery in less than two weeks. These people say the very same thing, and I'm about to go ballistic on a couple of them if I hear this crap one more time. What they are basically saying is that God caused my mother, as well as others, to have cancer, but I, and others, should trust this same terrorist to heal our loved ones???? Freaking batshit crazy, is what it is!

What it really boils down to is that we are all subject to nature, in all its glory and fury...not to anthropomorphize too much. My family has a genetic predisposition to certain types of cancer, reproductive, pancreatic, breast and brain cancers are the most prominent. This has nothing to do with any supernatural terroristic entity as the Christians claim. It's nature taking its course, and I'll be counting on the expertise of the surgeons, oncologists and other professionals rather than some twisted supernatural salesman idea of cutting someone then selling them a bandaid if they beg enough. The very idea just sickens me. It is what it is.

You understand the Real God more than most Christians.
I agree with you 100%

My sympathy goes out to your family.

The Atheist's Statement:
1. There is no evidence supporting the existence of a deity.
2. Therefore, there is no reason to believe in one.
3. Therefore, I don't.
Is that too complicated for you?
Question for ya Mac.

Based upon the above "criteria", because you don't believe, do you/have you done research into areas you don't believe in?

Example - the paranormal/supernatural or the theories presented?

Or are you like some I've spoken with - paraphrased of couorse - "I don't believe, thus I don't need to research it."

Is there a side of the fance you lean more to?

Hi, non catholic non christian here. Just from an unbiased point of view, I think that there is no wrong and no right in any case. Just personal opinion in the end, why do catholics/christians enjoy continously bashing each other, unless either/or religions has let you down in some or another way. I mean, if the opposite hasn't harmed you in any way, why hate it so much?

I note you mention non catholic and non christian, as if there is a difference between the two entities. Guess what, they are all christian. It is just that their ritualistic activities vary from one cult to another.

Yeah, not much time lately, so I picked the slower threads to post since that's where most of us 'old timers' will check when we see responses. The busy threads are just too much crap anyway....buncha rabid, hypocritic Christians, like YellowDog and Yahoo.

My thoughts exactly. I am so sick of the blind hypocrites that post on those sites, like "Prove". There are some really good people there, but one has to cut through all the crap just to get there. My opinion is it is sickening to see all these corrupt thoughts out there. So many people are living in fantasyland. I really miss Beijair and Xentrik. I believe X is on Wordpress. Now I mostly go to the various threads, peruse them for interesting comments. I am now much, much more likely to read, rather than post.

Warm thoughts to you and yours.

Having lost my mother and stepfather within 24 hrs to cancer earlier this month, I believe I can empathize completely. It is an emotional minefield. As Mother was a well-known freethinker (tho' an on-fire Christian in my youth), I can say that no one burdened us with having to smile and nod at such wretched foolishness.

Your proposition is the only rational course. Even as a Christian I could not abide the idea of intercessory prayer (altho' I would acquiesce if an ill person requested prayer, then and now. I don't believe in prayer, but do believe in the efficacy of positive mind-states). It is impossible to wish for God's intervention, and not deal with the implications when it refuses for it's own ineffable reasons. It is a capricious and cruelly whimsical god that would comport itself in such a manner. As a Xtian I resolved, privately, to release God from such archaic chicanery. Since then, of course, I resolved to release myself from such a creature entirely.

Peace to you.

I love atheists. They all have such wonderful thoughts in their heads. None that really reflect reality, mind you... but wonderful thoughts just the same.

So you truly believe your "Skydaddy" is watching over your affairs 24/7 and, accordingly, protecting you from *all things* Evil. If I have eluded the "ballpark", please do let me know.

It's irrational to make the absolute claim "there is no god"
Wow, that is sure a nice compilation of crazy apologetics and incomprehensible logical fallacies. Thank you for exposing more Christian lies. Well done.

Please illustrate one famous atheist who made an absolute claim about the existence of a supernatural deity. Even Pope Dawkins puts himself at a 6 on a sliding scale of disbelief of 1-7.

Two final points:

1. Atheists are only mistrusted because of Christian lies.

2. If you claim Biblegod and his boy toy Jesus are two of the only three gods, you are making an absolute claim about the non-existence of over a million other gods. Is acting foolish your goal? Mission accomplished.

That really is irrelevant.

I'm still trying to figure out how the poster knows the mind of another.

They are just projecting.

Agreed. Polymath does bring some interesting ideas to the discussion. I also am more likely to read, though haven't done much of that here lately. Just do some hit-n-runs when I get a chance to come home a little while.

Condolences and best regards to you and yours, Hip.

It took several years for me to let go, for me to realize exactly how "the truth shall set you free." Reminds me of that verse in GoThomas where Jesus allegedly says something to the effect that you will be disturbed, then astonished...and I was. Then I understood, and was free.

My mom has remained a Christian, so I'm surrounded by them. Some Catholic, some protestant. Most together are like a bag of trail mix, nutty and fruity, but with a prize here and there in the bunch. My son's girlfriend is Thai and Buddhist so mom wants to learn more about Buddhism, which I see as a great opening. But the cancer is progressing so quickly, so ravenously, she barely has the energy to stay awake for very long at this point.

This ended up a case where nature should've been left alone without any intercessions by any gods, i.e. people in white coats doing surgery at the first chance. Unfortunately, people become vulnerable in the midst of excruciating pain and some surgeons will take advantage of that. Of course, our laws here help protect those surgeons. I would advise anyone to get 3 opinions at the very least, and from all different surgeon groups, not different surgeons in the same group. There are lots of elderly people out there now days and the numbers are growing with the baby boomers getting older. Protect your loved ones and encourage them to seek further information before any kind of surgery. Once a surgeon is allowed to cut on you, you are basically stuck with that surgeon, esp. if he screws something up because no other will take on the responsibility of cleaning up the first one's mess...well, someone may but it's almost impossible to find one to do so.

Y'all take care of your loved ones and don't believe what one doctor says, esp in life and death situations. The whole idea of a medical "industry" turns people into commodities, things, rather than human beings. The things I've seen done or not done, in a Catholic hospital, have been shocking to say the least. And get a medical POA for spouses and others in cases of surgery because you never know what will happen. Protect yourselves and those you love.

Peace back atcha HipG...and to the rest of you as well.'Til next time....

And here I shall expose the christian lie. As Hitler before me exposed this, so you should read and understand. Most of you post from the new testament, this is not a good idea. You will understand after reading this. The jews have kept you blind and made you to worship false gods such as jesus and satan.

http://thechristianlie.blogspot.com/...

Fiction: Hitlers teeth were rotted from eating sweets.
Truth:Hitler was kept homeless during his wisdom tooth growth that caused massive impaction and the total of ww2 could have been avoided if he had only been able to get his wisdom teeth removed before they destroyed his teeth. Brother Adolf was homeless from 1909-1914, he was aged 19-24 years old, what age did your wisdom teeth get pulled? The communist left and the evangelical worked hard at keeping men like him on the streets through the usage of a false christian doctrine known as pre tribulation doctrine. The false doctrine makes usage of a lie that satan takes over before the tribulation and they keep people homeless to try to force hat viewpoint. Yes it is called have faith. Yes it is a communist plot. Yes socialism can destroy communism and return us to an imerialist ruler that can be held responsible if he rotts our teeth. The socialist army must rise once again to throw off the chains of the jew oppressor!
