Rising obesity will cost U.S. health care $344 billion a year

If Americans continue to pack on pounds, obesity will cost the USA about $344 billion in medical-related expenses by 2018, eating up about 21% of health-care spending, says the first analysis to estimate the future medical costs of excess weight.

Well maybe if adults TURNED OFF THE TELEVISION and got kids OFF the PLAYSTATIONS AND OUTSIDE and spent time outside with one another LIKE WE DID BEFORE EVRYONE GOT CABLE TV, THE INTERNET AND NINTENDO in the 90s, then MAYBE, JUST MAYBE people would SLIM DOWN.

And now they have just revised the mammogram recommendations for women to get mammograms every two years instead of every year. Its to save money on health care. Has obama's death panels already started? Cut medical costs at the cost of more deaths?

I can add to that. When I was growing up, at least in MY town, we didn't have cafeterias until high school except for a nearby Catholic school. We didn't eat 3 big meals a day, and we had RECESS.(something which some parents are trying to eliminate)
We brought a simple lunch, not one that looks like a restaurant made it. And yep, we spent a LOT more time outside.

Damn fatties are as bad as the smokers and gays and boozers. All these selfish idiots who CHOOSE unhealthy lifestyles are why health care is so expensive. Adult onset diabetes would not exist if fatties didn't.

Here's yet another factor.
If Moms can't properly discipline their kids, how do they deal with them? With food. The kids can scream their way into getting candy in the shopping line, and if the kids are good they are rewarded just like a dog with treats, or shut UP with something in their mouths. How do teachers reward good students? Pizza parties. Certainly there has to be a better way.
