You know, I don't recall anyone ever saying Buffy wasn't a great show. Tv now is, well, rather pathetic with few exceptions.

I even liked the spin-off show, Angel. Although the final season kept being changed-up, I never did get to see it all.

I thought Joss Wheaden's universes were interesting places.

Oh Angel. Sigh. Sorry what?

I've seen both a few times, the ending of Angel was frustrating but very apt, I definitely recommend watching the whole series.

A Cabin in The Woods was Joss Whedon's creation as well and very good if you like horror action with a twist.

Yes-- it was. Very satisfying to see a show where women were depicted as strong-- and not just physically.
A bsolutely. And the Willow/Tara relationship was gorgeously done.

Oh yeah and Tara's voice in the musical was spectacular!

The Angel Buffy relationship will always be my fave though.

I'm not sure which I liked better: the totally silent one, or the musical one.

Both were extremely well done, IMO

Permanently broody gets boring after a while.

My vote's for the musical. Although they obviously had way more material than they could fit.

LOL

Not me, I thought her being with Spike was love heresy and unfair on both her and Spike. I see what you mean though and can't blame the girl for choosing neither and running off to be on her own till she turns into a cookie.

Agreed, both were brilliant but I personally relate a lot more to the musical, plus, singing and dancing is more awesome than fighting and keeping secrets.

The broadcast premiere? They ran over the normal time, and ran it with fewer commercials.

Fortunately, I was in the habit of recording (via old VCR tapes) both before and after the normal slots, as the stations were notorious for going over or under the exact time-- and I had plenty of tape.

So I saw the whole musical without any missing bits. Now, when it's rerun, it's typically cut to fit.

Not that Buffy's been on the lessor cable channels in a while. I used to have the "gay" channel (I forget what it's called) and it regularly ran episodes of Buffy. I've cut way back on TV channels, though.

I actually liked "Silence" better-- I thought it was an amazing bit of cinema, and not a little daring.

Mini-musicals had been done with nearly every long-running series, dating back to Gilligan's Island (which I seem to remember had at least two "singing" episodes).

But an episode that was silent from start to near-end? That was daring-- the only sound was during commercials.

The first time I saw it, the abrupt shift to sound (commercial) was quite jarring.

Why? It was inevitable-- you could see the tension building, right from the first appearance of Cordy, in season one (but not episode one, as I recall).

Remember Cordy's ghost roommate? Dennis? That was fun.

I own all complete episodes of both.

Yeah true. However, a musical on Buffy is pretty original.
