My wife and I moved from the area and still remember Renedos' Mexican restaurant on Hwy. 54 in Odessa. The property sold in early 2005. The address is 14328 State Hwy. 54; Odessa, FL 33556. The telephone number that he had for years is now assigned to someone who lives several miles away. I can still see the building and property on Google Earth and it now appears to be a tractor-trailer parking lot.

Could anyone please provide any information on whatever happened to Joe Renedo and his restaurant? It is appreciated.

Joe Renedo was my husbands grandfather. He passed away awhile ago. We can't remember what year. Maybe around 1995. His daughter took over "Renedo's Place" for awhile, but have heard she has sold it since.

Linda, Rose, and Butch,

Thank you so much for your responses. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tampa in the mid-1980s. Her great aunt and cousin lived about two miles south of Hwy. 54 on Gunn Hwy. The four of us would frequent the restaurant on weekends.

I'm sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Both the great aunt and cousin have both since passed, as well.

Although bittersweet, I appreciate everyone's postings.

Best wishes,

I don't know if any one will ever read this.I was just sitting here reminiscing and thought about Renedo's. When I went it was not a restaurant it was a hole in the wall bar in the middle of nowhere. It was 1975 and I was 16 years old. The drinking age was still twenty one even though a couple of years later they would drop it to 18. I went there with Rick Agliano and "Fat Boy" Rick Agerre. I got ripped on cheap beer! Great night, great memory!

I grew up off chesapeake. Renedos was my go to place. In 2006 it became a place called cypress grill. Wasnt very good. Shut down 6 months later. For the last couple of years it has been a bus charter business. Depressing I know. I actually have the original renedos sign in my garage. I stole it one night in 2005 as a senior prank. It now sits in oak harbor washington about 90 moles nw of seattle where I live. Hope this helps

Joe and Helen Renedo were my parents. My mother was the mexican in the family it was her receipes that made Renedo's what it was. My husband and I decided to sell the restaurant in 2005 because we needed to spend more time with our boys as my parents would have wanted us too. I still live in the area and pass by the building daily thinking of all the great memories that were made there.

Helen was my stepmother and very dear to me.I miss her to this very day.
Success in anything begins with a dream and making that dream happen, the originator of the dream that became Renedos Place was Joe Renedo sr.
Credit for success in anything cannot occur without the dream becoming a reality.
May God Bless my parents.

My dad, Robert (Bobby) was Joe Renedo's son. I have memories of being in Florida, of Grandpa Joe, of my Aunt Renae who was not much older than me! This has been so cool to 'reconnect' in a way!

I'm sitting in my house in southern Missouri watching the snow come down, getting ready to chop more firewood. I'm wearing my green Renedo's Place t-shirt under my jacket. I found it in my closet this morning and put it on just to feel some of the good vibes I always felt at Renedo's. I moved to Michigan avenue in 1977 and soon found it. Dollar 6 packs of Rolling Rock a .50 cent tocos were a poor boys dream. Joe and Helen were always great. Many fond memories.

We used to eat at Renedos every so often as well. We moved Land o Lakes when it was a quiet area with allot of nature in the early 90's. Hate the place now as its full of sub-divisions and cars, cars, cars. Trying now to sell the place and move the hell out crappy pasco county.
