Full story: ABC News

In a decision that could have sweeping impact on employers across the nation, the Supreme Court ruled today that white and Hispanic firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge.

It's about time these courts made some logical decisions on this type of discrimination

Martin Luther King, Jr. never wanted for people of color to have more, better, special rights than someone with white skin. He only wanted equal rights for everyone!

Thank goodness that the Supreme Court 5 understands that equality means just that; equality for everyone!

We should have the best. If that turns out to be disproportionately white, black, Latino, whatever, that's the way it works out.

It is very odd how the concept of racial discrimination gets so confusing for a liberal judge as soon as the victim is white. It is a disgrace that this matter even had to rise to the level of the Supreme Court.

What is really going on here is that the liberals are determined to force racial equality by giving unearned advantage to minorities based upon race. They wil not let their cherished dogma of racial equality go even if it means unfairly discriminating against whites. It's time we expose these unjust racists for what they are and get them out of our courts. No person, of any race, deserves an unearned advantage or disadvantage due to their race when it comes to employment, college admissions and so forth. The civl rights movement was not intended to simply swap out whites for blacks as the victims of discrimination.

Reagan, White As Snow
http://tinyurl.com/6lujee
Last week, as we’ve heard, the Republican presidential candidates praised the name and heritage of Ronald Reagan 40 times during the televised Show and Tell at the Reagan Presidential Library. That none of them mentioned Reagan’s legacy of white supremacy and support for apartheid is a little like invoking Jefferson Davis and not mentioning treason or slavery. Actually, a lot like it.
Ronald Reagan was a white supremacist to his very core, and left enough traces over his lengthy political career so that it’s evident for anyone who cares to look—which apparently few do.
Domestically, he opposed every legislative remedy for African Americans, betraying a meanness of spirit and an open racism. As Sidney Blumenthal wrote in The Guardian in 2003:/ http://www.tompaine.com/articles/2007/05/08/r...

No tears for Reagan
June 8, 2004 / http://tinyurl.com/558r6l
Excuse me if I don’t shed any tears over the passing of former President Ronald Reagan. While the news of the 40th president’s death brought on a flood of sentimentality over the nation’s media this past weekend, I could not help but recall what the Reagan presidency really meant for Black Americans. Similar to what occurred upon the death of Richard Nixon, amnesia has set upon journalists as they recall Reagan’s era; choosing to indulge in idol worship rather than serious reflection on the former president’s policies.

Ronald Reagan: The Great White Redeemer

Only 12 years elapsed between the glorious military victory over the Confederate Slave States in 1865 and the definitive defeat of Reconstruction in 1877. In many important respects, the Reconstruction period was even briefer than that. By 1870, when the last of the southern states ratified the 15th Amendment to the Constitution, Tennessee had already rejected biracial democracy and installed an all-white “Redeemer” government.“Redemption” then swept through Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.

PRESIDENT Bush proclaimed: "Ronald Reagan believed that God takes the side of justice and that America has a special calling to oppose tyranny and defend freedom." In the first three days of news reports on the death of the former president, not a single major American newspaper, television station, or politician has dared to exhume this counterpoint to the Reagan's legacy: "Immoral, evil, and totally un-Christian."

Southern Strategy: The race question has haunted Reagan and the GOP for decades
The same could be said, of course, about such Republican heroes as, Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon or George Bush the elder, all of whom used coded racial messages to lure disaffected blue collar and Southern white voters away from the Democrats. Yet it's with Reagan, who set a standard for exploiting white anger and resentment rarely seen since George Wallace stood in the schoolhouse door, that the Republican's selective memory about its race-baiting habit really stands out.

Just another example of Sotomayor racism. Just wait until she gets on the court and look out. I am a Democrat, however, I love the rights I have especially the 2nd amendment to own firearms. How will she impact this one? Look out America if this racist gets on the U.S. Supreme Court!!!

Not that the job owes me a sense of belonging, but in my years on the job I have seen few blacks come into the "big interview"and none come out with jobs. With 11 years behind me I saw a mixed candidate recently come on. My dept is 1.8 percent black 2.0 percent hispanic and 96.8% white. I'm not trying to hold anybody back, but in 11 years the numbers have risen .5% black and .65 percent hispanic and with a good number retired it makes functions and work sometimes unknowingly alienating. There is 100% truth to the existence of some white guys club mentality. A lot of retirees seem to treat me better than line ffs.But like I said nothing is overt, just subtle and usually just from a few. So what's a guy to do when he works in a municipality that is probably 50% black yet we have 2-3 black firefighters. Though they have passed the test many candidates dont have the integrity to do this job or deserve it.

Then maybe you Democrats should make it known that you will not tolerate socialism anymore. They have infested your Party, and usurped the people's individual rights with archaic Eastern European legislation.

Do something about it. Divorce Liberalism from Socialism.

Nothing at all is what you do. You let individual merit determine who gets hired by having tests available to all. We no more should dumb down mental testing then we should lower the basket in the NBA. Equal opportunity is all that any person deserves. Equality should not be achieved through discrimination towards whites. Equality must be earned.

Thank God!! it's about time this was brought out into the open, get used to these court cases,, alot more are going to be heard before long, the stimulous package Obama produced is seriously flawed, the money the states got to improve infastructure is ordered to go to minority owned companies only, those road construction companies cannot be owned by a white male, if in fact they are they cannot no longer use stimulous money to hire those trucker companies, it is a fact that as of right now these companies are banding together to bring suit against the states and Obama for his racist tactics.
Keep in mind,, this country is still 75% white, and we sure as heck didn't get where we are by sitting back and getting kicked in the teeth, believe me,, this is only the beginning, crap is about to hit the fan with full force, and the courts are going to be flooded with reverse racist cases.
Jessi Jackson, Al Sharpton,, ect,,, have set the ground work for screaming discrimination,, and believe me, we are going to start using the same tactics they have thrown at us for years and years, wonder how they will enjoy the taste of thier own crap being thrown back in thier own faces??

obama has already started to stack the Supreme Court with his brand of liberal domineering judges who wish to thwart the will of the American people through court rulings designed to control the population by minority rule.
