It's kinda cute the way you worked progressive democrat in there. Not particularly skilled or artfully done, but cute anyway - kinda like a trained monkey.
I'm not sure but I think her point was more along the lines of people viewing assimilation as nothing more than "American suppression", a stance taken by a lot of far-left liberals and democrats.

Another thing I forgot to add, a question.

Why is it that at the DMV, you can take a driving test in languages such as Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog or Vietnamese but all of the traffic signs such as regulatory signs, hazard markers, warning signs and guide signs are ALL in English?

One time? History was not your strong suit, was it?

"Wanting another democracy in the terrorist hotspot?" Wanting? You know, you're right. That does pretty much sum up the basis for foreign and military policy in Iraq. No wonder it was such a clusterfudge. Who is it again who "dreams big but rarely think things through?"

Here's a few more things you don't understand re: immigration.
You don't understand the strain on the taxpayers
You don't understand the strain on our hospitals and emergency rooms
You don't understand the strain on our police forces and security measures
You don't understand the strain on our social services
You don't understand the strain on our schools
You don't understand the strain on our court systems
You don't understand we're 17+ trillion in debt
You don't understand there are no jobs
And that's why my little friend, you're a liberal. You dream big but rarely think things through.
Let me guess - in the far-right bubble, that 3.7 billion is all to buy ponies and popsicles for the refugees?

Knowing what IS entailed in that $3 7 billion request does kind of knock the air out of misinformation about the administration's intent re:the refugees, so let's not go into those details, shall we? Messes up the talking points.

Since I am an American, and the effort to deal with the situation is an American effort, and the debate is about how to do so, that's still a pretty stupid question. Beyond that, what I may do along private lines would be self-serving to proclaim in an anonymous forum. I walk my talk, and that's all you need to know about my personal philanthropy. My charitable efforts have NOTHING to do with the American policy being debated re:refugees. To suggest so is a misdirection ploy, and stupidest of all.

But you feel free to " take it" in whatever way pleases you. This is America, after all.

Let me try?

Because the priority at the DMV is safe drivers, and they want to make damn sure people understand what they're saying, and part of that test includes recognizing simple ENGLISH traffic signs, maybe?

The immigration issue will be to the 21st century what the slavery issue was in the 19th unless the little multicultural, free thinking, progressive yahoos don't start paying attention. I'm not stupid, Willie. The less assimilated immigrants are, the more apt they are to vote democrat thus the more prone they will be to becoming a permanent fixture of our ever expanding underclass. I know how this will play out. A democratic republic will no longer be possible. A socialist state will be the only way for this country to exist.

SEAL THE BORDER.
Slash the incoming numbers
Fully assimilate the ones who are here and methodically implement a sensible immigration policy subject to change.

As a close friend from another nation now a U.S. citizen told me, we don't have assimilation anymore. Many reasons for that but I don't have time for the flame war that would spawn right now.

Ok. I'll go along with that.

It's still stupid, though. Emergency signs vary, a non-English reading driver is a potential hazard.

I'd say the best thing to do is give them a temporary license, like for one year. Then have them reapply with an English written test (give them a year to learn English but don't inhibit the privilege of driving).

Thoughts?

There it is again, and certainly not for the last time in any election cycle. It's kinda like CUT THE WASTE and STOP THE FRAUD and SAVE THE WHALES, that all sound sensible and proactive and all........

But what does it MEAN?

In spite of recent propaganda, the numbers show more patrols then ever, more dedicated resources than ever before, and more deportations than ever before. Just ask disgruntled Latino-American activists.

So what is NOT being done to SEAL THE BORDER?

Since there are national signage standards, then any emergency sign that varies is certainly stupid on the part of those that placed them.

I don't have a problem with your idea, or some variation thereof. I don't know that I'd make it a year - I'd say 6 months - that takes in any community college semester. In the interest of safety, would you subsidize the classes for those that can demonstrate a need? It's about highway safety, not policy about new arrivals, right?

And I sure wouldn't try to use it as a knock against those "furriners". Shoot, just about anybody on heart meds is a greater danger on the highway than a guy that can't read English.

Sealing the border simply means taking back control of who comes in and who goes out.

The fact that people from other countries can simply walk across the border and not be stopped or turned away tells you that the border is not sealed, the border is not protected, Americans are not protected.

We either need a big, prison-like fence or we need a ton of border patrol agents and National Guard patrolling and turning people away when they try to cross.

Illegal immigration should not be allowed to happen. By not securing our border, our government is allowing illegal activity to run rampant.

I would agree to subsidize nothing.

Americans and immigrants need to get back to personal responsibility, subsidizing everything only worsens the nanny state, the government dependency, that we are already in.

If foreigners want to come to America, they should pay for it themselves. American taxpayers should never have to foot the bill for that.

Her point was and always is to shift the conversation away from anything so that she can rant about liberals and Democrats.

In the United States of America, a country of 319 million people, you can ALWAYS find somebody who takes any stance. I'm not sure how widespread the view that assimilation is nothing more than "American suppression" actually is. I think the thought process behind the conclusion that it is 'many' is the same fundamentally flawed thought process that leads some on the left to scream that opposition to Obama is racist.

As I said, in a country of 313 million people you can find racists who oppose Obama, and you can find people who actually believe that assimilation is American suppression. If you're pushing your own agenda, those are the idiot extremes you're going to use to portray everyone else you disagree with.

Probably because the a) it's the language that a sufficient number of people in a given state speak, and b) the regulatory signs, hazard markers, warning signs and guide signs are ALL in English in the tests taken in Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog or Vietnamese.

Let's see you discuss and expound on the differences in behaviors and habits of snakes vs. whales without assigning them into separate categories of reptiles vs. mammals.

Show me how it's done, Willie
