lol- Not really. The behavior is a primal instinct particularly prevalant in the homosapien male species since it's origin. Modern etiquette or learned artificial behavior can interrupt that instinct in order to have peace and keep blood flow to a minimum but unless instinct can be bred out of a species, it will always dominate. Modern man resorts to that instinct when they have to and sometimes they resort to it simply because they feel like it; which is what you men just did for the last 24+-hours.

I've never seen any evidence of gay Cro Magnon but I think it's safe to say the chips would have been stacked against him and he wouldn't have fared well durng the Paleolithic Era.'Coming out' of the closet (or cave) was probably not a good option back then.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for the science demonstration!

I don't disagree with what Steinbeck said in the abstract, but the abstract doesn't always intersect with the real world.

There was no failure on the part of Belgium's thinking that caused the Germans to invade in 1914. There was no failure on the part of Poland's thinking that caused the Germans to invade in 1939.

The examples are admittedly simplistic, but the fact remains that "man's failure as a thinking animal" isn't always on both sides equally.

OK, very good--I see that we're back to discussing serious matters.

So tighten your corset, mammy, here's more:

MOSCOW (The Borowitz Report)—The N.S.A. leaker Edward Snowden today reached out to the United States government, offering to fix its troubled healthcare.gov Web site in exchange for immunity from prosecution.

Speaking from an undisclosed location in Russia, Mr. Snowden said he hacked the Web site over the weekend and thinks he is “pretty sure what the problem is.”

“Look, this thing was built terribly,” he said.“It’s a government Web site, O.K.?”

Mr. Snowden said that if an immunity deal can be worked out,“I can get to work on this thing right away—I don’t need a password.”

In addition to full immunity, Mr. Snowden said he is requesting that he be allowed to work from home.

At the White House, President Obama offered a muted response to Mr. Snowden’s proposal:“Edward Snowden is a traitor who has compromised our national security. Having said that, if he knows why we keep getting those error messages, that could be a conversation.”

I'm fairly familiar with German history after unification, and I'm not sure what you mean by 'initial revolt'.

Revolt against whom? By whom?

There was nothing about hunger or lack of work that caused the Germans to violate (in 1914 or 1939) the Belgium neutrality that they guaranteed.

Hunger and lack of work may have played a role in the rise of the Nazis, but you can't attribute the aggression of Nazi Germany to a want of food or a lack of work.
