WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Adding his voice to the eleventh-hour debate about the government shutdown, Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) today proposed reopening just enough of the government to hold new hearings on Benghazi.

“Across this great nation of ours, people are suffering,” he told Fox News’s Megyn Kelly.“Suffering, Megyn, because they still don’t know what really happened in Benghazi.”

Noting that the government shutdown had furloughed investigators who could be looking into Benghazi, he said,“If there’s something in our government more worthy of funding than that, I can’t think of it.”

Senator Paul said he knew that he would draw the ire of fellow Republicans by suggesting that the government be partially reopened, but added,“Sometimes, you have to put politics aside when there is something more important at stake, and I think any reasonable person would agree that there is nothing more important than getting to the bottom of Benghazi.”

“For the two weeks of this shutdown, the American people have had no new information about Benghazi,” he said.“It’s time to stop the madness.”

The T-party never made any bones about their intentions, slam the brakes on an ever expanding federal government. It's what they've run on since day one. I never understood the taunts of calling them the 'Party of No', since that was exactly what they were hired to be. Are they supposed to be offended? I find it amusing that the "statesmen" from both parties that have literally broken this country's back now try to use them as the scapegoat. Sorry assed polital hacks.
Scapegoats they are not - as you said, they never made any bones about their intentions.

Now they've got what they wanted....and they're crying foul because they also got what they didn't want: the blame.

I hope they have a bunch of full Kleenex boxes on hand for the crocodile tears.

Tears? Now you're as naive as the goofs calling them the Party of No. The T-party will wear what they're doing as a badge. When a deal is eventually made the hardliners will be hold-outs to the very end. And beyond. They are in their element, and will ride the notoriety to hell or high water.
Tears? Pfft.

Of course they wanted to scale it back: to the size where it could be comfortably drowned in a bathtub.

During the LA-StL game yesterday, a translator had to be brought out to the mound along with the coach to talk to the Korean pitcher, Ryu.
Things must be pretty desperate, when a team has to field a player
before the player gets a chance to study Rosetta Stone so he can
at least learn the basics of our language.
The Texas Rangers have a Pitcher from Japan, Yu Darvish, that requires having a translator. When he got here, he couldn't speak a word of English. He's learning English quickly, and can converse with team mates, but the translator is still on hand just so there is no confusion during critical situations.

He's one heck of a pitcher, and it would be nice if his team mates would produce some runs when he's pitching.

Quitcherbitchin....
Apparently a lot of Koreans live in L.A. What did they say last night, when Rhu's pitching, about 17,000 of them show up at the park.

What do you think Willie, does this seem like a good night to steal one from the home team?

Democracy is based on the conviction that man has the moral and intellectual capacity, as well as the inalienable right, to govern himself with reason and justice." - also Truman

60 years ago these quotes meant something, they resonated with society. Today the words have lost their true meaning and have been redefined.

"Sense Enough", "Conviction", "Moral", "Intellectual Capacity", "Reason" and finally "Justice"

Heck, that's nothing new. The Tea Party has getting the blame for everything, by the media, the pResident, Democrats and the 'old guard, big government' Republicans.

They tried to fund the entire government, with just a few exceptions. Unfortunately, obama and his Democrats, plus a couple dozen RINO Republicans aren't interested in getting their spending in check.

You're living in a bubble if you aren't aware that Republicans, and especially TP Republicans, have been calling for a government shutdown since at least 2010. You would have to ignore the speeches - available on your favorite video compiler - calling expressly for a gov't shutdown. You would have to be oblivious of those coming out of that meeting on Sept. 30, all grins and thumbs-up, when it was determined that a shutdown was imminent. You would have to be ignorant of those saying, on camera, "We got just what we wanted." You would have to be ignorant of the quiet, last-minute "minor" change in House rules that now prohibited anyone but the Speaker to call a bill to a vote.

You can say they're resolute, courageous, maverick, or any number of gushy superlatives.

But you cannot say Republicans didn't want to shut the government down.

Not truthfully anyway....
