I always figure guys who support abortion are guys who were relieved when their girlfriends agreed with them to have one.

How good of her not to put you on the spot for 18 years of child support payments.

In the U.S., immediate medical complications from abortion occur after approximately 10% of the abortions are performed annually, causing about 140,000 women a year to experience problems such as: infection, uterine perforation, hemorrhaging, cervical trauma, and failed abortion/ongoing pregnancy. In the twelve months following an abortion women have a death rate four times greater than women who continued with their pregnancies.
http://www.silentnomoreawareness.org/articles...

Results: A total of 463,473 women had their first pregnancy between 1980 and 2004, of whom 2,238 died. In nearly all time periods examined, mortality rates associated with miscarriage or abortion of a first pregnancy were higher than those associated with birth. Compared to women who delivered, the age and birth year adjusted cumulative risk of death for women who had a first trimester abortion was significantly higher in all periods examined, from 180 days (OR=1.84; 1.11 <95% CI <3.71) through 10 years (1.39; 1.22 <95% CI <1.61), as was the risk for women who had abortions after 12 weeks from one year (OR=4.31; 2.18 <95% CI <8.54) through 10 years (OR=2.41; 1.56 <95% CI <2.41). For women who miscarried, the risk was significantly higher for cumulative deaths through 4 years (OR=1.75; 1.34 <95% CI <2.27) and at10 years (OR=1.48; 1.18 <95% CI <1.85).
Conclusions: Compared to women who delivered, women who had an early or late abortion had significantly higher mortality rates within 1 through 10 years. A lesser effect may also be present relative to miscarriage. Recommendations for additional research are offered.http://www.medscimonit .com/abstract/index/idArt/8833 38

mortality studies in Finland found a three-fold increased risk of suicide in the first year following an abortion compared to the general population and a six-fold higher risk compared to women who gave birth. The highest suicide rate was within two months of the abortion.

In the California studies, women with a history of abortion had higher rates of psychiatric treatment over a four-year study period and were 187 percent more likely to die of heart diseases, which can also be affected by stress.

“Numerous studies have linked abortion to higher rates of substance abuse, self-destructive behavior, psychiatric hospitalization, sleep disorders, eating disorders and a general increase in treatments sought for medical care,” said Reardon.“More research is needed to explore how these or other pathways may help to explain the higher mortality rates observed in record linkage studies.”http://afterabortion. org/2012/higher-death-rates-af ter-abortion-found-in-u-s-finl and-and-denmark/

Using California MediCaid records http://www.afterabortion.org/research/DeathsA...

Women who have had abortions are more than 2x as likely to die from suicide. The suicide rate for women who delivered was 3.0 while the suicide rate for women who'd had abortions was 7.8 (P. 840)

Abortions are bad for women.

The conclusions drawn on page 839 of this report comparing the California study to the study from Finland: correlations between low income and racial diversity (California study) and a wealthier more heterogeneous population (Finnish study) reveal a higher mortality rate for women who had abortions

http://www.aaplog.org/complications-of-induce...

The article is comprised of 22 studies from 6 countries, 36 measures of effect and 877,181 participants (163,831 experienced an abortion). This review offers the largest estimate of mental health risks associated with abortion available in the world literature. The results revealed an 81% increased risk of mental health problems after abortion.

Separate effects were calculated based on the type of mental health outcome with the results revealing the following: the increased risk for anxiety disorders was 34%; for depression it was 37%; for alcohol use/abuse it was 110%, for marijuana use/abuse it was 220%, and for suicide behaviors it was 155%.

When compared to “unintended pregnancy delivered,”“pregnancy aborted” women had a 55% increased risk of experiencing any mental health problem.

Clearly, this article substantiates that abortion is a poor solution for an undesired pregnancy (and note that most abortions are done ostensibly to avoid emotional distress of some kind. These women are not avoiding emotional distress.)

"Women who have had abortions are more than 2x as likely to die from suicide. The suicide rate for women who delivered was 3.0 while the suicide rate for women who'd had abortions was 7.8 (P. 840) "

Pern, the populations are different, more abortions and suicides in teens and lower incomes.

Your insinuation is that abortions cause suicide but the data doesn't support that claim.

"correlations between low income and racial diversity (California study) and a wealthier more heterogeneous population (Finnish study) reveal a higher mortality rate for women who had abortions""

I didn't see any stats on income in your text from Finland, though I imagine they are indeed generally higher income.

Regardless, I think age is the main correlative factor.

Young people have more sex, are more fertile and aren't yet mature enough to handle life's tumbles...

We can also look to gender for clues; male suicide rates are many times higher than females, does that mean that getting pregnant prevents suicide?

"In the United States, the male to female suicide death ratio varies between 3:1 to 10:1.[15] Typically males die from suicide three to four times more often as females, and not unusually five or more times as often."

Female Suicide in China

In China, suicide rates are higher for women than men,[i] while in all other countries (with the exception of the small island nation of São Tomé and Príncipe) the suicide rate is higher for men than for women.[ii]

In fact, the Beijing Suicide Research and Prevention Center reported in 2009 that the suicide rate for females was three times higher than for males.[iii]

Suicide is the leading cause of death for adult women living in rural areas in China.[iv]

56% of the world’s female suicides occur in China,[v] but only 19% of the world’s population lives in China.[vi]

In more rural areas of China, suicide accounts for one third of all female deaths.[vii]

500 women commit suicide in China each day.[viii]

Easy access to pesticides contributes to the prevalence of suicides among rural women.[ix]

Violence against women and girls, discrimination in education and employment, the traditional preference for male children, birth-limitation policies, and other societal factors contribute to the high female suicide rate.[x]

According to researcher Steven Mosher, it is no accident that,“China's women have the highest suicide rate in the world, not to mention the highest rates of breast cancer, all in consequence of having had their babies killed in utero by a state ruthlessly bent on population control.”[xi]http://www.who.in t/bulletin/volumes/87/12/09-01 1209/en/

Abortion Statistics in China

Chinese data show that 13 million abortions are performed each year, for an average rate of 35,000 abortions per day.[xii]

One field researcher has concluded that he is fairly certain that most of the 13 million annual abortions are forced.[xiii]

According to Steven Mosher, most of the millions of abortions carried out in China have the character of a rape; that is, they were performed on women who were ordered, or even physically forced, to submit to the knife.[xiv]

Since 1971, doctors have performed 336 million abortions, have performed 196 million sterilizations, and have inserted 403 million intrauterine devices.(For comparison, in the US, where the population is about one-quarter the size of China’s, an estimated 50 million abortions have been performed since 1973.)[xv]

The abortion rate among women in China is 29.3%, which far exceeds the average level of other developed nations; in the population of 20-29 year-old young women, the abortion rate is 62%.

So where is the source to back up Pernie's claim: "The number of women dying from legal abortions has doubled since 1995"?
Whose claim did you say that was?

So where is the source to back up obama's claim: "I also have a health care plan that would save the average family $2,500 on their premiums."?

I take it back. I am going to try one more time. Leave out the men. They can't be pregnant or have abortions.

The very first page of the report found here: http://www.afterabortion.org/research/DeathsA... (p. 834)

Just read the findings at the top of that page if the rest is too much for you.
