Senecus wrote: <quoted text> And to think people actually at one time paid off there mortgages:) (Used to have "Mortgage burning" parties...) Hello Okb, pleasure. A lot of good , valid points made on this thread- from both "sides", not all mutually exclusive. That said, concerning your post I believe much can be summed up in a word - "Priorities". Today, many "wants" are perceived as "needs"(really been on the rise last 40 some yrs.-'marketing')- in 'simpler times' just having that "roof over ones head" and "food on the table" was enough, and "living good". Less distraction, more manageable "pace of life". Concerning the "middle class", really a quite recent phenomena in terms of human history, a blip on the radar screen. Though around in lesser form post Renaissance, its modern rise seemed to coincide with that of the Industrial Revolution , where distribution of labours freed one of more menial tasks and the economy of scale caused items to be more accessible to the masses. An interesting subject, which could fill pages. Gotta do my part(work:), take care... I certainly agree that we have become much more material and recreational/entertainment oriented than we were say before 1970. In the early 60's it was a "treat" to eat lunch at Burger King and we almost never ate supper out. Our transition from an "export" economy to a consumer economy has certainly made a difference. WHile there are many things we can not compete with China on, it would be nice if more people "bought Aemrican" knowing that we support ourselves when we do that (of course an American company may not use all American parts.) I agree with the industrial revolution and I think we had distinct "golden" age after WW II up until about 1970.

Very telling post Mr Okb. What's the difference in inciting the barbarians by releasing the video in Egypt or inciting them on national TV bragging about killing Osama ? Incite them by all means. Draw them out and dispose of them. How's that for a different approach?

.(CBS/AP) WASHINGTON - President Obama says the U.S. would not consider Egypt an ally, "but we don't consider them an enemy." {That clears things up} Mr. Obama said in an interview with the Spanish-language network Telemundo that Egypt is a "new government that is trying to find its way." He warns that if the Egyptian government takes actions showing "they're not taking responsibility," then it would "be a real big problem." Ya think?

Yep, Sams hires more Americans and people around the globe, than any private concern..... But all you ever hear from liberals is how Sams/Walmart is bad.

Remember when Ronald Reagan was running for president and was confronted with the downed-helicopter rescue mission ordered by then President Jimmy Carter to save the American hostages in the U.S. Embassy in Iran, Reagan did not see it as opportunity to score political points. Instead, Reagan said, "This is the time for us as a nation and a people to stand united." Romney needs to take a lesson from Reagan.

Air pollution to be exact in this conversation. It isn't a made-up concept. I know, you would like to believe global warming doesn't exist either because Fox news said so. I posted seevral links for but I am not going to spend the day educating you on the actual concept of air pollution or that it causes deaths. If you don't even understand that then it would take more time then I am willing to invest to try to show you otherwise. BTW Any chance of you ever providing those verses or the posts about things I never said or you are content just leaving it you are ignorant on the bible and lied about what I said? The self-indulgence in yer posts are only surpassed by the snooze-factor. You seem to be steeped in every talking point thats spewed by the leftwing blogs. Its pretty much understood by anyone who's been paying attention, that the concept of man-made-global-warming is a farce. But here you are trumpeting the myth, as though yer some young enlightened fella, here to help out the ol'folk.... Ha! YOU may be young, relatively speaking", but yer shtick is OLD and worn, and quickly losing steam. But don't worry Skom, you'll be able to pick up the mantra again, when the left starts singing about the coming ice-age, again. Its what liberals have always done. They see a normal planetary cycles, and in their arrogance, claim responsibility for it. They see a man or woman who doesn't embrace their gender, and along comes a liberal to offer a "gender-reassignment "... Ha!

Bobin claimed I was a bigot because one of the first things I did was attack Romney's faith. That never happened. You continue to go along with it claiming it is abundantly clear despite the fact that it never happened. This is why people like you repeat things like the POTUS hates his country. A person in here called another a bigot based on something that never happened and you not only support it, you defend your refusal to even see if it ever happened. You have zero integrity DS. Is it so hard for you to admit you were wrong or do you know you are lying when you do it and that is why you refuse to re-visit it? Either way, it speaks volumes to your ethics Heh heh heh.... The translation into Arabic (?) and release for the middle east was timed around 9-11. Now how many Americans get killed in the week after we got Osama again?
