thanksgiving is bad news for turkeys, but good news for me:

turkey with mashed potatoe and gravy

off day with pay

spend my time by myself

no work, no annoying coworkers, no stress

more time with Topix :)

I had a heart attack 10 years ago and had triple bypass, my new wife had a major heart attack this last Sept. We are both alive and loving every moment, that's what today is all about.

Don't know much about that place but me myself I'd rather cook my food. I put a onion inside of the turkey, and a stick of butter inside. Then on the outside of the turkey I put uncooked bacon strips on the turkey mostly all over. Holding the bacon in place, I used toothpicks. Smoked it for right about 8 hours. Very good flavor and moist. I'm sorry about breaking in with your conversation I just read where you ate at a Resteraunt. I just feel like I should tell people about it because nowaday's everybody deep-fries them and it's just not good enough. I must have posted this about 10 times. Think I'm getting Carpal Tunnel. LMAO!!!

Barbequed turkey is the bomb! A friend of mine cooks turkey on the grill, with sprigs of fresh rosemary on the inside, and also in the what-do-you-call-it, that mesquite chips and stuff usually go in.

I used to think that myself until my friend told me to smoke it. It's a lot more trouble but, well worth it. Smoke chip's are OK but, I use only Oak wood to cook with. Just like when we cook hogs. No charcoal with anything not even Rib-Eye's. Hamburger's, theyr'e OK with charcoal and Hot Dog's but that's about it.

I don't usually eat turkey, I know it's a weird thing given that it's Thanksgiving and all, but your description of how you cooked yours sounds delicious. I would rather have home cooked food as well for the holidays, but sometimes going out does save a bit of time... but of course a nice, wholesome home cooked meal is usually always better. lol.

A few years ago, I decided to make pumpkin pies with fresh pumpkin instead of canned. Even though it's more work, I've never gone back to using canned. It's SO much better!
