Hell, we routed the Taliban before using air power, some SF troops, and the Northern Alliance. Then we squandered our gains by largely ignoring Afghanistan and allowing them to strengthen their resolve for a 7yr period afterward.

Our lovely politicians and ex-President screwed this up and it's going to cost us thousands of lives and billions of $$$ to fix it, or, we need to come up with a different plan.

I'm all for a different plan, like pulling our soldiers out, bombing any Taliban we see in the open using drones or piloted aircraft, and supporting their elected, albeit corrupt government from afar.

According to the latest polls, 58% of the population oppose the War in Afghanistan and only one in ten believe the war is winnable.

Whatever happens, there won't be any mindless escalation the way there was in Vietnam. It's not sustainable.

Our rulers get away with their gangsta tactics only because they control perception via TV and, to a lesser extent, films.

It is critical for them to cover up truth, deceive, and scuttle transparency to achieve a myriad of goals, on several layers.
