Thank you for worrying so much about me and my education, or lack thereof. Perhaps though, you should understand that I have a doctorate and am actually an historian before you try to school me on the past.......especially regarding the U.S. Thank you for your time and concern!
Congratulations, I'm very happy for you. America, the land of opportunity. However, since you have a PhD, presumably, I would have expected a higher caliber response from you. Instead you provided a very simpleton-esq response which lacked any pragmatic thought... which is what becoming a doctor of philosophy is about!

I don't blame you though, I blame the degree mill (online ed) you got your doctorate from. Oh wait, this is the internet, I'm sure you attended some illustrious ivy and you're the curator of the museum of natural history, right?

Please continue down the path of making you Alma Mater(s) proud.

The word you were attempting to use is 'esque'.

Your misapplication of 'esq' is an abbreviation for the noun esquire, meaning "an unofficial title of respect, having no precise significance, sometimes placed, especially in its abbreviated form, after a man's surname in formal written address"

I don't blame you though, I blame the degree mill (online ed) you got your doctorate from.

You're so silly.

Grammar Nazi
An idiot.
1) Someone who is too stupid to think of a reasoned response to any argument so resorts to attacking someone's grammar and spelling instead.

Thank you for holding me to the highest standard. I'm looking for a new analyst that has as much attention to detail as you do, maybe you should consider applying.

Thank you, come again.

Haven't seen any Hispanic, Asian or disabled kids in these commercials. Just white kids looking smarts, black kids looking stupid, and the smug white guy looking smug. And they keep coming out with new ones each week. Racism, so easy a corporatoon can do it.

I had been thinking this all along and once I saw the most recent commercial just now, I searched for this topic so that I may explain why I feel this exact same way. The most recent commercial , a boy replies infinity. The man asks can anyone top that. The little black girl replies "infinity plus one!" The guy replies no I was looking for something more like infinity plus infinity. Well the little white girl replies "what about infinity times infinity." And everyone is shocked and obviously impressed by this answer. So yes, I do agree these commercials somewhat exploits black children and the man often shoots their comments down as if they are ignorant.

Seen the new AT&T commercials with the smug racist guy and the kids? 3 of them feature black children being portrayed as dumb or foolish. One child shaking his head and waving his hands above his head like a minsrtel. Another child asking what animals would be made of on a candy island. The smug white guy says, "Uh, candy?", while giving the kid the " Stupid effing knicker look". The new one features a black kid who doesn't know what rhyming means and the white guy and white kids are dumbfounded by his stupidity.
Shame on you AT&T. Shame on you.
Worse than GEICO cavemen! "Racism. So easy AT&T could do it."

You guys know that 95% of what the kids say and do in those commercials is unscripted, right?

Generally speaking, it's not what the kids say.

It's the consistent response given that shows contempt for the answers that the black kids give, even when their answers are adequate.

..and the praise given to the white kids' answers.

Agreed. AA male here and I am in no way on board with pushing racist accusations on any group. I believe that there are more people that are not racist, but allow bias perceptions to influence behavior, that often "feels" like racism. However, it is my observation, in some but not all cases, that innocent and good meaning people, are often not aware of the subtle racist/bias actions of the society in which we live. I think its that behavior over time, that effects the temperament of the individual group. At&t has put on a world stage, and uncovered the perceptions I feel we deal with more often than not. Its certainly my opinion but the implications are clear and unfortunately commonplace. I would like to add that there are many situations in which our culture needs an improvement in image, and sometimes help to advance negativity. However, I often say, when we die, will racism really have mattered? will it matter to anyone other than the one, or two, or ten people one encounters of the billions of people on earth? with that said, the only one really effected by the negative emotion, is the individual.

Seriously? This is a major corporation that tests, tests, polls, test, polls before they dare change toilet paper brands in the executive washroom. They know what they're doing. Most companies avoid black actors in favor of asians for this very reason.

the 4th 1 has come out already.bits the one talking bout the slow turtle. The black lil girl suggests that she would b a slow turtle & the smug white guy corrects her by askin if a slow turtle was in the road wut would happen & the lil white kid hits his forehead n shakes his head. At&t is portraying the black kids as dumb. Very racist commercial. Shame on at&t!

I totally agree. You are correct

I noticed the same thing.. which is how I found this topic.. its not that people are looking for racism or are ignorant.. but after the 2nd or 3rd commercial, its obvious that the black child is singled out.. its just odd that its been that way in all three.. not saying its on purpose or anything, but its pretty apparent and now I know I'm not the only one who sees it. If a 4th one comes out and its the same kind of thing.. it couldn't be just a coincidence. My opinion. No not everything is racist.. but at the same time, racism still exists most places you go unfortunately.

The Brown girl is made to sound dumb in the slow turtle crossing the road commercial and the white guy asks a white kid why she is wrong when the last commercial with the white girl saying the dumbest thing I ever heard about wanting more and the white guy agreeing WTF?

A lot of people do not even see their racism. For instance, if a white person sees a white commit a crime he won't think that all or most whites are criminals, because he identifies himself as something other than a criminal. However, if a white who has not known many blacks, sees a black committing a crime it is easy for him to say all or most blacks are criminals.
And seven times out of ten, crime statistics would prove him right.

Good points.
Think about it, one kid shaking his head and waving his hands above his head like a minstrel, take a look lil wayne and other rappers.
That's what they do. Obviously it's in the culture.
Then the black kid who doesn't know what rhyming means and the white guy and white kids are dumbfounded by his stupidity?
No doubt.
Why haven't his parents schooled him on hip-hop culture?
Does he live in a fishbowl?
Most black folks would be screaming his remiss parents must be uncle tom sell out oreo token republicans.
Sheesh This stuff is confusing. There is no continuity.
These are the problems that arise from hyphenated Americanism.

Chains or no chains, you brought your own culture with you.

Maybe they didn't cast or script anything, and that's actually the way the black kids behave – I mean stereotypes exist for a reason.

its sad because while people are so tied up in their personal feelings about race, and other less important issues, your civil liberties are being pulled right from under you. Find out about the passing of the NDAA - national defense authorization act, learn about what Bilderberg is and see if racism will matter then. Understand the famine coming to our economy very shortly. Circumstances often change opinion. The nwo will enslave all races and you will look for help from anyone you can find it from.
