Although, I am pleased that these scum bags are now out of commission, I am just a little surprised if Obama gave the go ahead to have these pirates exterminated. I mean if George Bush would have authorized this then I think a lot of the loony left would have been up in arms that these pirates civil liberties were trampled upon. I thought Obama was supposed to make this world a safer place through diplomacy and speaking to our enemies. I just think its kind of funny that Obama tries to imitate George Bush even though he trashed him so much in the campaign as well as when he became president. I just love the double standard.

I give the credit to the United State Navy and the Navy Seals. Obama sat on his ass hunting easter eggs in Washington DC.

I agree with you but I hope you would have said the same thing had Bush gave the order.

I am not a Republican. I just vote for them. And why did Obama authorize the murders of these poor young boys? He must hate black people. George W. Bush saved at least one million African lives during his administration. All Obama does is authorize their deaths.

No double standard at all. They did try speaking to the Pirates and it didn't work so they were eradicated.

I believe Obama authorized the use of force. At least that is what is reported in the news. Either way it is a job well done.

There have been many, many efforts to negotiate/open lines of communication with the pirates, but they (the pirates) are not "open to talks" and every effort heretofore has resulted in more and more hijackings...Haven't you been watching the news?

There is no "imitation" of previous Presidential policies, the President merely exercised the ONLY option left available...I mean, afterall, they ARE "pirates" and if it were YOUR arse kidnapped and held hostage out in the middle of some ocean somewhere you know you'd want your country doing all that it could to save YOU, so I'd appreciate it if you were to cut out all of this hypocritical critiquing of our still new President as he's doing exactly what he's suppose to do in situations such as this, i.e., protecting his people and saving them from imminent danger.

The opposite of "right" is "wrong." So whatever Obama does is "wrong" according to the "Right-eous" wingers. Right?

Translation - Obama gave the order, the mission was successful and you wingnuts on the right still wont give him any credit.

How very republican of you.

The pirates were open to negotiations, but the only problem was they didn't want to be held responsable. In other words they didn't want to be arrested. You can beleive they were shitting bricks when they saw the snipers move in.

Funny thing about that, you cannot travel into international waters, hijack someone's ship, take their captain/crew hostage, demand ransom, and then expect not to be held "responsible"...Sill y pirates, crime cannot go unpunished.

p.s. One of the things about "snipers" is that you DON'T see them, ever, nor anything else once they've seen (scoped) you, so the pirates never even had an opportunity to shit any bricks, let alone pass gas, lol!

The priates did have a chance to. The snipers were parachuted onto the USS Bainbridge, or The USS Boxer the previous night of the of the reported sniper assault. They didn't clarify which ship.

I think that is incorrect - I think that to ASSUME that "the loony left" (good thing you aren't biased) wouldn't have supported Bush in this instance is asinine.

Furthermore, they happen to be YOUR Civil Liberties that people, on the right and the left, for for every day - and those would be the Civil Liberties of Americans - not the entire world....they (these liberties) are NOT the same as Human Rights.

The US and the French are the only two nations, currently, that have retaliated/fought back against these pirates. There are International Pirate laws that apply, as well.

If Obama did not authorize the kills, then someone who he gave authorization abilities to, did.

People will be mistaken if they take him for a coward, I think. Just because he doesn't jump up and down and make a scene about it and get all haughty in the press about it doesn't mean he won't take you down. It would, also, be good for the world to wonder a little bit, now, about how we are going to react to certain things - the element of surprise.

These pirates have now deemed all US ships fair game - it could get very ugly. We have always upheld our policy of not negotiating with terrorists - imo, these pirates fully qualify.

They don't even have a gov't, let alone a Navy - it could be a real bloodbath for them if they don't let up.

They have gone so long without a central gov't and any sense of law and order that I was wondering if some of the younger ones may have lived their whole lives like that - NO sense of order, law, socialization, etc......doesn't excuse it one bit - don't get me wring.

But, it's an interesting thought.

You all have to understand that our military would never undertake a mission like this without the knowledge and approval of the President. That's why he is called the Commander-in-Chief. From what I've read he had his finger on this button from the git go.
