At first I thought I was on your blacklist...and then...I felt better.
The south west was interesting to say the least. I did enjoy it for a while and then I realized what felt strange about it...what gave me that uneasy feeling...the mountains were naked.
I had never seen naked mountains until this trip. All the mountains that I know are dressed in their blankets (with many colors this time of year). When I first saw these naked mountains I thought how beautiful...seeing the peaks and valleys and how they came together...intertwined...each distinct...yet a part of the whole. There was something though that I couldn't put my finger on.
I loved the deep rich colors of the soil...from almost gold to the deep red veins. After a several hours of awe...I realized...they were naked...no green...no transition from the green to the vibrant colors of fall.
My favorite thing about the trip...I loved the wind turbines...that is another story however...they are like soldiers standing guard...they were magnificent the bright blue sky. A little eerie at night however...they kept putting on this synchronized light show...kind of.
It has been a long time since I have seen so much barren land...mile after mile of nothingness. When finally coming to a town...some of them...actually most of them...appeared to be waiting to die.
I guess in so many words...I love the lusciousness of forests...
I learned a lot about myself during this trip...
I was a visitor...I don't belong in the land of the naked mountains.
These guys however...

...I am quite fond of. At night their light show makes you think that aliens are landing...hundreds of red blinking lights illuminate the sky.
Ya. It's quite a different world than most are used to. It's really beautiful in the morning just after a rain, if you ever get the chance to see it. It's pretty rare.
I used to hail crane parts for those towers all over the west..it was interesting. You can live in one of those "housings" on the top, they are so huge.

I did not post any absolutes about your value as a person or your overall knowledge
What I did do is point out the absurdity of claiming someone who would post a reminder about Veterans Day is really dishonoring our fallen soldiers and the first amendment because you don't like what he posted about someone
And I don't think you believe it for a second. I never see you ponder your supposed many musings when it comes to the actions of those you ally yourself with
<quoted text>
Again, more manipulative drivel
No our soldiers or founders didn't sit in a room and specifically say, let's die to give people the right to insult each other. What they did do is found this country and die on the battlefields to give us a right much more encompassing than that. The right to speak our minds regardless of whether our words meet the approval of other individuals or the government
And once again, I don't think for an instant you don't understand that
And I wouldn't characterize my post as finding just something to gripe about. Unless you now are claiming you don't see the gravity of your own charge. The one you used specifically for its effect. The one that claimed someone was dishonoring our soldiers who have died.
You want to make this about me having some personal agenda against you and you are mistaken. I speak up only when I find you to be using dishonest tactics. And I will continue to do so. As is my first amendment right. In that at least, you are correct.
You should be ashamed of yourself.

I won't waste words telling you why.

I am of the philosophy that if you want something done...you should at least know how to do it...my dad taught me that...all the while my mother dressing me in ruffles and can-can slips...I hated those things. They kept getting hung up in the briars.

RR - your point is noted, but is just like others - as the Bible had been changed since its onset.
Many "early Church Fathers" misinterpretted what was originally written.
A prime example is the "resurrection".
Jesus speaks in many non-canonical texts it is a resurrection of our Spirit - without the body - that is "born again" into the kingdom of "God". But you so-called "Christians" think being born again, reflects baptism and repentance. Different meanings altogether.
Another prime example is the use of "brothers" in the Bible.
As we know brothers have many connotations that can reflect actual siblings, "brothers in arms" (fighting for the same cause), as well as, friend or co-patriot.
With you exclaiming this: "You purposefully misquoted the Bible and changed the wording to suit your meaningless argument" is very indicative of every other so-called "Christian" when they don't believe something to be possible from their perspective.
It wasn't misinterpretted, you just misunderstood what BA was trying to convey.
Bart Ehrman's "Misquoting Jesus" gives four very good examples that show how the meanings of words have changed over many years through scribal errors, theological changes, as well as, just plain changed to change the meaning.
Again, you've seemed to jump the gun without doing the proper research of the words or passages.
That would be "Self".

It is not ok to misquote the Bible and then use that misquote to prove a non-valid point. That is what Ben did, that is what Ben does.
I find it curious that you defend it.
My point being, was that your interpretation of something can be different than anothers.

Just because you say something is supposed to be this way, doesn't make it any truer than anothers POV.

Interpretation is perception.

Perception is Self.

Jesus spoke highly of men to be aware of their Self.

Christianity rejects this command.

This is why you are a so-called "Christian" - you would prefer to follow what men think of Jesus, instead of what Jesus thinks.

Just more proof that shows so-called "Christians" don't know what they are talking about.

Thanks for proving yourself to be a liar once again.

You are trying to say the Catholic Bible existed before circa 350 AD because the Hebrew Scriptures existed before Jesus was born.

Sure, and the US Constitution existed before 1700 AD because the Magna Carta was written in 1215 AD.

This is why I call you and those like you LIARS. Because you are so goddam deceitful it makes me sick.
If this what your religion is about then it is a religion of pure evil.

You are the biggest hypocrite on Topix so I could care less what it is you would have had to say

There is absolutely no way Annie would have made that post to you. And not just because of the relationship but because it was an accusation that was transparently untrue

If you had posted to RR that he is a child abuser and woman beater, way worse than just about anything someone can say to someone let alone falsely, no way a separate post from you to someone about remembering our veterans would get a reply from Annie wondering if you are dishonoring our troops.

You can try to defend it all you want. The tactics fit you like a glove so it doesn't surprise me to see you try

have good day,
this is only what I observed from your posts
I don't defend everything Ben does

Nor does he defend everything I do

If anything, he and I are more likely to call each other on something because we have a relationship that allows for it. It is that same relationship that allows us to debate and concede points to one another

Whatever faults Ben may have, he also has a lot of things about him that I like. I am sure he feels the same. And is not that what we strive for?

There are very few people in my life I have come across that I would write off as having nothing positive I can gain from the relationship. Be it friends, acquaintances, or even enemies in rarer cases. So I would not do so particularly with someone whose company and exchanges I have both learned from and enjoyed.

While Ben and I don't answer to each other, I believe we have often encouraged each other to be better people. And because it comes from one another, we often listen to each other. That is a good thing. And something I have often passed on the opportunity to have prematurely in the past, which only hurts me.

I would suggest you may consider the same. How often did you and I go at each other's throats? Or me and Ians? Or me and RA? Yet each relationship has grown to varying degrees in positive ways. And those are examples of what used to be extremes. Haven't we both too often drawn lines in the sand when there could have been a better way?

I still don't do it as often as I should. But I am grateful for the times I have.Hopefully some food for thought.

(T) Peace

Just from a topix perspective I have to disagree. I've been here along time and predominately christians will fight their own battles, they rarely get any sustained help from another christian. While topix atheists regularly swoon in to defend their own.
How many people stood up for yellowdog? How many continuously helped her in her battles on the prove there's a God thread? I could pick any page at random on that thread and find multiple atheists attacking her. This behavior has proven out on topix over and over and over.......
Yellowdog is a homophobic ass. I think you could have picked a better example. Why would anybody stand up for that?

Hi Epi. Yes that is a race car driver in the picture with me. However it wasn't taken when I was at the race at Sebring, Florida. It was taken at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway a few years ago. He's a driver in the Indy Car Series who has raced in several Indy 500's. Can anyone identify him? I'll even give everyone a hint. His father won the Indy 500.
You're so right about the Veterans. We are able to enjoy the rights we have because of them. God bless all the Veterans.

I think it's important to let people know what we look like. It makes a difference to me. I now know that you're a real person.

I've been rude to you and I apologise for that.
