Christianity has everything to do with it. And many Christians on this thread are rabid homophobes. They are vectors for the meme. That you don't recognize that is just another part of the problem.
They don't pay much attention to their own book:

There are forty-two death-penalty sins in the Old Testament. Everything from murder to fartin' at the dinner table:

Is a camel a clean or unclean beast ? No one has agreed on that in 3000 years. Did God give you that answer yet ?

The OT laws do not apply to Christianity. They only apply to everyone else.

That's what they believe even though Hey Zeus told them otherwise:

Matthew 5:17-20

King James Version (KJV)

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

"The tides come in, the tides go out. We don't know how that happens"... LOL, Not O'Reilly's best moment...
Atheism is rooted in logic.

Atheists cannot be devout, atheism requires no devotions to be paid to anything.

There is no such thing as a humanist preacher, they are practitioners.

Humanist churches? 4200 mentions of "Humanist Church" on the web and I'm thinking calling a Humanist organisation a church would work well for them when it comes to receiving the same tax benefits as 'churches'.

Before I continue...you obviously have a problem with the definition of "Secularism".

"Secularism is a principle that involves two basic propositions. The first is the strict separation of the state from religious institutions. The second is that people of different religions and beliefs are equal before the law". Hope that helped.

Secular Religion? See definition of secularism above.

Secular Training? See definition of secularism above.

Secular dogma? See definition of secularism above.

Secular dogma? See definition of secularism above.

Secular faith? See definition of secularism above.

Oh' Really repeated his howler regarding the tides in several ways and then when replying to the criticism of his complete lack of understanding of EVERYTHING said, "How'd the moon get there...how come Mars doesn't have that"...as we all know(or I hope we do) Mars has 2 moons...The man is a 'pinhead'.

But my absolute favourite was: "O'Reilly: But I tell you what, I've been in combat. I've seen it. I've been close to it. And if my unit is in danger and I got a captured guy and the guy knows where the enemy is and I'm looking him in the eye, the guy better tell me. That's all I'm gonna tell you. If it's life or death, he's going first"...after never serving a single second in the armed forces...Did I say the man was a 'pinhead'?

Prayer for today

Today is new,
unlike any other day,
for God makes each day different.

Today God's everyday grace
falls on my soul like abundant seed,
though I may hardly see it.

Today is one of those days
Jesus promised to be with me,
a companion on my journey,
And my life today, if I trust him,
has consequences unseen.
My life has a purpose.

I have a mission...

I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons.
God has not created me for naught... Therefore I will trust him.
Whatever, wherever I am, I can never be thrown away.
God does nothing in vain.

He knows what he is about.

My math is just fine. HL I don’t even read many of your posts. That should tell you that I don’t care one way or the other what your opinion of me is. You no more than Ians define who or what I am. Neither do either of you get to decide one thing about me. Your thoughts about me are not relevant as to what is true. I made it through life just fine before you came along and I’ll now make it just fine without considering your input.
.. I debate principles, not personalities. It seems you are employing an "ignorantio elenchi" non-debate tactic ..

My Claim: Everyone has something to teach.

Your Response: I don't like you or IANS.

.. thank you for teaching me I was wrong to challenge your statement that IAN couldn't teach you anything. Making a mistake is honorable because it provides an opportunity to learn ..

.. you caught me at a bad moment; trapped in the philosophical supposition that humans need each other. You're fine, all you need is Jesus. Again, thank you for the lesson ..

http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/10/09/surv...

Washington (CNN)– The fastest growing "religious" group in America is made up of people with no religion at all, according to a Pew survey showing that one in five Americans is not affiliated with any religion.

The number of these Americans has grown by 25% just in the past five years, according to a survey released Tuesday by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

The survey found that the ranks of the unaffiliated are growing even faster among younger Americans.

Thirty-three million Americans now have no religious affiliation, with 13 million in that group identifying as either atheist or agnostic, according to the new survey.

Pew found that those who are religiously unaffiliated are strikingly less religious than the public at large. They attend church infrequently, if at all, are largely not seeking out religion and say that the lack of it in their lives is of little importance.
