Sorry that you have been deprived of the ability to see so much goodness, or to experience hope for our increasingly secular future.<quoted text>
All we've done is trade one set of immoral ideals for another.
Instead of burning witches, now we burn nations. Instead of monarchies, we have the US gubment. Instead of legal slavery, we have illegal slavery. Where's the humanist progress you speak of? I don't see it. If you want to claim that America is better off following humanist values, you'll need to be specific about what those humanist values are and what they've done to make America, or the West, better.
You've been sold a bill of goods that I call Christian misanthropy - the notion that man is hopelessly lost without a god, and that the world is bad and just keeps getting worse. It's done to keep you feeling that you need help and protection from a god, and in my opinion, it's a horrible psychological burden self-servingly inflicted on people by the church - just like the fear of damnation.
I see great potential for man and his future. Sure, there is risk, and it may work out badly. But there is also hope and potential. Your Christianity seems to have deprived you of that - Serah and Clearwater even more so.
