I actually like to see it. People often mistake nice and kind for naive and fragile
Epi reminds me of my sister a lot. Someone I almost forget understands all aspects of the real world but is so nice all the time I almost forget it.
Anyway, that was not a commentary on your post as that made me laugh. Just used it as a jumping off point as well

Hey nobody gets to be a granny until they have lived through life.
But yeah, I always have thought of her like that
I still do
But kinda in the same way I wanna believe my parents when they told me as a kid that my pet rabbit that was living on my sister's farm ran away with a bunch of wild rabbits and really wasn't killed by their dog like my brother-in-law had blurted out! LOL
Meh, she is still the nicest poster on Topix IMO

.. it seems you're now trying to depict writers as money hungry beasts who will do anything for a dollar ..
.. when attending school in Tucson, AZ, I met Susy Smith, an author of 30 books. She was a delightful white-haired lady with an angelic wit, a refined intellect and a desire for everyone to read a book that she wrote that was rejected by her publisher: GHOST WRITERS IN THE SKY ..
http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Writers-Sky-Commu...
.. she decided to print the book at her own expense and, together, we developed a marketing plan: advertisements in trade magazines, personal appearances at book stores, letters to libraries, etc. Our venture flopped ..
.. she did not write for money. Unless you're a Stephen King or Robert Ludlum, writing is not a lucrative profession. Writers write because they enjoy writing, believe in their mission and want to share it with the world ..
.. on February 11, 2001, Susy died but her message lives on and GHOST WRITERS IN THE SKY is now in high demand. She accomplished her mission through death, the best marketing plan for any artist or writer ..
.. it seems your character assassinations target professionals: AIN the physician, Catcher the attorney and now: writers. My guess? You could have been much more than a factory worker but, for some reason, settled for less ..
.. that's sad ..
THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA & PSYCHICAL RESEARCH
http://www.innerknowing.net/research.html
P.S. There's a picture of Susy on this website. As a young woman, she was one wild beautiful redhead. I will always remember her and what she taught me.
Interesting.....Has anyone received Suzy Smith's secret word...and prove "does consciousness continue after physical death" and receive her 10 thousand dollars yet?

Thought for the day
It is sad however that each day we wait for a new day with no mistakes...and it never gets here. Tomorrow seems to be always one day in to the future.

Now I am depressed...all I got is...today...I suppose I should make the most of it...even if it is filled with mistakes.

.. ponder this ..
1. In the U.S.A., everyone is entitled to legal representation by an attorney.
2. An admitted pedophile has $7,000 in assets to retain legal representation.
3. All four private attorneys in his county refuse to represent him based on moral grounds.
4. The pedophile finds an attorney 220 miles away who requires a $15,000 retainer.
5. Is the pedophile entitled to a public defender when (s)he has the resources ($7,000) to retain counsel but has been refused because of moral principles?
6. In this scenario, what happens to America's justice system?
I guess the poor little pedophile gets the public defender...

Isn't that sad ?

I think that's the longest post I've ever seen you write, thank you.
If you were to sit down with a potential client that is up for child molestation charges, and he admitted to you that he is guilty that said something special to you like "I know all you can get me off scot-free, because you're so awesome", would you take that job?

I have been very lucky.
I thank my lucky stars.
Now don't take that too literally.
But that's how I feel.
In other words, life's been good to me so far.(Credit to Joe Walsh.)
Maybe better than I have deserved.
So you tell me: Do I believe in luck?
No, I don't.

(See how easy it is to answer a simple question?)

Do you believe in luck?

I get the impression that if you don't like the answer that means there was no answer given.
Your inability to recognize an answer that gives a position between two extremes does not mean that there are no such positions or answers.
I'm a simple person.

I'd like a simple answer.

Do you believe in luck?

Ask the question in an intelligent manner, and I'll give you an answer.

Thing Two (RR) is even worse.
He'd hang'em first, ask questions later.
At least Thing One (Skom) just wants them to have meager representation, so they'll be sure to be found guilty.
If I were in your shoes and a man came to me about me defending him in court and he admitted to molesting a child, you damn right I hang his ass.

My hypothetical was not an accused child molester, it was an admitted child molester.

of course its absolutely right.
I'd defend anyone accused of anything, its not even a choice.
Would I defend a criminal case pro bono publico...no way. Would I conduct an appeal bro-bono? Absolutely!
I'd even defend you...
What if it was an admitted child molester? You know, the guy is accused of it, charged with it and admits it privately to you.... Would you still defend him and try to put him back on the street?

Would I defend a 'child molester' who has asked me to enter pleadings of not guilty following a confession to me?

Duh!

No...that's how you ruin your career and end up in the back pocket of your local friendly drug dealer/gangster. I would instruct the clerk of chambers to return the brief to his solicitor and issue a communication to the bar council regarding my reasons for doing so.

Would I defend a person with previous convictions FOR WHATEVER OFFENCE...yes I absolutely would, like I said...that's not even a choice.

.. not to my knowledge ..

.. Houdini made the exact challenge, giving a secret message to his wife. Three years after Houdini's death, Rev. Arthur Ford presumably delivered the correct code to Mrs. Houdini ..

.. skeptics and journalists tried to debunk the story as a hoax; but, even on her deathbed, Mrs. Houdini stood firm: Ford delivered the correct message ..
