Actually I have met some real cool ones
Although it probably depends on the neighborhood
I'd imagine in tougher areas where the need to be physically self-reliant is more important that there would be a lot of pressure on women police officers and some may very well overcompensate
But as far as normal interaction or tickets and minor stuff, its been the women cops that I have found to be much more fair.
That's just been my experience anyway
Ya, you're right.

I just mean that in **my** experience, chick cops are the worst. But I'm sure there's plenty of good ones out there.

The problem here is that Catcher has made it clear the guilt or potential guilt of his client makes no difference to him
In fact, he cares so little that he would never even ask a client and he would defend a client he thought was guilty.
Some in some cases one can argue this is ok from a moral perspective. Although it should never be forgotten than even a defense attorney is not supposed to lie (ethics) or suborn perjury.
But morally to try to get someone you believe is guilty an acquittal can be justified IMO either depending on the crime or knowing that the person will face a very disproportionate punishment or you are trying to keep them out of the system for making a single mistake.
Most defense lawyers have certain lines they won't cross though to sleep at night. It appears Catcher has none. Yes odds are many of your clients will be guilty. But could YOU in good conscious argue to get a serial rapist back on the street? Could you try to get a pedophile you believe is guilty released back into the public to rape more children? Because Catcher can and will try to do so for money according to him. All you need to do is hire him and no matter what you did or to who he will try to get you free. If you raped and beat a 100 year old women then Catcher is your man
Its an ugly system on both sides and someone times to survive it takes being ugly. I am not blind to the fact that lawyers will often defend guilty clients knowing they are guilty and like i said, there can actually be decent reasons for doing so. But someone who rapes children and will do so again is legally allowed a defense and will get one ASSIGNED if necessary through the public defenders office. If a lawyer in private practice has no moral lines, at what point isn't he as bad as the worst criminals in society? Anybody that VOLUNTEERS for money to get a child rapist put back into the community owns part of the guilt for his next victim

A lawyer must represent his client zealously regardless of guilt or repugnance -- under penalty of loss of his license.

A lawyer who can best represent his client by not knowing the guilt or innocence of that client should not ask and should advise the client against volunteering that information to the lawyer.

It's an ugly system, but it beats most alternatives.

He only has a duty to his client if he takes the case

I don't how any lawyer in private practice with the option would knowingly take on someone that felt was guilty of raping children

He also said he would never turn down a client based on the type of person he was or what he was accused of. So if someone convicte3times of molesting children walked into his office and said I want you to defend me for this 4th charge he would take the case

I am not suggesting a lawyer take a case then not try his best. But some cases you don't volunteer for in order to get money. Not if you have a conscious and want to sleep at night

But I agree its an ugly system and that unfortunately, its better than most anywhere else, sad as that is

Today's Prayer
Dear God, It's true...I may be the only "Bible" someone ever reads. Please help me be a living testament that is worth reading. Please work through me and help me be a light and a shelter for my non-believing friends, neighbors, coworkers. I am sitting here today, yielded to your will, and asking you to use me open the eyes of someone who has been blind his or her whole life. What an incredible blessing it would be to know I am the instrument you used to bring a person into the Kingdom of God. Lord I want to hide your Word in my heart so that the Holy Spirit can bring it to remembrance at all the right times, that the words that come forth from my mouth would honor you and point other people to you. May you be lifted high and exalted, praised, and worshiped above all. In Jesus' name. Amen. Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen (Isaiah 32:3).
Prime time with God
Amen. Great prayer selection.

A girl I dated in college dressed up as a cop for Halloween

I don't care what anybody says, that has "french-maid" or "Playboy Bunny" beats hands down

Although it was before my legal issues. The next time I was handcuffed wasn't nearly as pleasant!

Ok, just wanted to make sure I understood what you were saying
Not to be dismissive by any means as I appreciate the time you put into the answers but our different interpretations on what it means for a soul to die or be destroyed is probably going to be where we have to leave it. Because that difference will be what each verse ends up coming back to as far as where we see it differently. Obviously I am interpreting it to mean no longer existing.
I have been meaning for some time to come back to this in my personal study but haven't really figured a way to go beyond those verses. I tried leaning more about Judaic beliefs in an after-life to see if that gave me more insight into some of the OT verses but its a pretty vague concept in their belief system
And I have not been able to find an answer anywhere as to what "worm" means when it says their worm will never die. I think that would be my best starting point if I could get an answer of that but haven't found anything
Anyway, I appreciate the discussion and you giving your interpretations
(T) Peace
Anytime Skombolis. Christians discussing Christianity can only be a positive. At least it should be.

Noted your views on "destroyed" to mean "no longer exist"

But how would that be punishment?

Consider the person that kills their family and then commits suicide.

How would he be punished if his soul is destroyed to mean "no longer exist"?

Think about Hitler or Stalin or any person bent on causing evil in this world. If they were told their punishment from God for all the evil they do would be "they no longer exist or cease to be aware"?

That is not punishment. That reason I think every soul that goes to hell will be destroyed. But will be >aware< of the hellish destruction of their soul.

However I can see how you arrived at your interpretation.

I don't even know what color mauve is, I just like the word. It carries an air of dignity about it. I like to try to work it into conversation while sipping on a Miller High Life and puffing on a raspberry Tiparillo. Mauvelous.
