Nice choice. Yes, you and Lewis both see through the distorting lens of Christianity, the one that tells him that the sun is moving through the sky, and that tells you that whoever contradicts your beliefs is trolling, harassing you, or pissing on your tires. They're both illusions.
Skombolis wrote:
You know it's not merely criticisms but condemning Christian's morality (and lying about it) to the "panty-sniffing God" and "filthy Christian liars" comments. You are dishonest to keep characterizing what you do as mere criticism.
What I just wrote was a sincere criticism of both you and Lewis. His quote was trite and poorly thought out, and you answer criticism with personal aspersions.

And I don't call Christians "filthy Christian liars." I call YOU a filthy Christian liar. You're doing it again now by making this claim again, one which you've already been corrected on at http://www.topix.com/forum/topstories/T0N0LOR... :

Skombolis wrote: "when someone comes to a room called "Why Should Jesus Love Me" and says they condemn the morality of Christians and call people "filthy Christian liars", the die was pretty much cast"

IANS: "What I condemned was Christian values, which facilitate a low standard of moral behavior. That is not the same thing as condemning all Christians, some of whom transcend their church's teaching and example. This distinction eludes you. And I didn't call people "filthy Christian liars." I called you that. You're lying now, and you are a Christian."

Amazing. You just repeated a post from August almost verbatim, then end it accusing me of being the broken record. Your lack of insight is breathtaking. You are a caricature of yourself.

True. So I'm reminded of a car I bought years ago. I had decided to go with a Honda. This was in the late 90s when they were still priced well under similar models. Funny thing is because the cars were quite popular many of the dealers had people in sales and service that had questionable ethics. In fact I read an article around the time about how some people liked the cars but wouldn't get one because of the jerks selling them, they were notorious. I did end up getting one. And buying it wasn't a very pleasant experience but I liked the car and features. Point is that it would be a shame for anyone to miss God because of the people on the sales floor. And the bible confirms many that confess to be part of the team, the boss will say I never knew you. Just some thoughts I had this day. Take care.
interesting analogy.

the car company never claims that working for their firm causes the salespeople to be nice <moral> persons. The religion does make such a claim. All I need do is notice that the car company has lied about the mundane, this suggests that they have lied about the significant.

When you return to the dealership six months later and you see that the ugly salesperson is still employed, you know that the employer approves of his filthy behaviour. You might still purchase a car, thinking that the attributes of the car are not reflected by the salesperson.... Here the analogy fails, The product for sale by the religion is a moral system, and when the employer utilizes an immoral salesperson, that does reflect upon the morality offered at sale. No sane buyer should patronize a religion selling morality; which employs immoral persons as representatives.

Clubbing baby seals is not funny. Would you like to see a video?
I'm not going to post it.
They were nice people, Skom. It's not the first time I've been to church. I have no problem with the people there. I like most of the songs.
I have a problem with the message, Skom. Mia was afraid to tell them that we get naked together and have orgasms. She introduced me as her friend and while I am that, I'm also something more than that. She may be afraid to tell them that but I'm not. I refrain because I'd like to keep getting naked with her and having orgasms :)
Mia and I are going to have to work this out and my ex is still texting me non stop. This may be a week to remember.
No clubbing baby seals is not funny

That was my point.

Some people, despite admitting their own church was great, will still come on here and accuse their old priests of misappropriating funds and claim all churches are corrupt, teach hate, etc because they know what certain people want to hear.

And I doubt anyone goes into church and gets into details about their sex life. So I'd assume the chances are pretty good that the teachings on one of the 667 sins in the Bible wouldn't even come up. I literally have never heard it talked about one time in my church.

Most churches are:

1) Focused on the believer

2)Aware everyone still struggles with sin and doesn't look to claim one is worse than another or condemn individuals

3) In the habit of trying to make people feel welcome as they sincerely care about their faith

The demonizing of all churches has just been part of a Topix strategy to win attention. Just like with people, since they run the churches, there are good people and bad people.

If a friend asked me to go to a MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) panel where many there have lost loved ones to drunk driving because they enjoy my company and its a cause they care about, I certainly would show up and argue they are hypocrites because I bet almost every single one of them at some point growing up had a little too much to drink and drove home and the only difference is they lucky and didn't kill someone

Now, that would be a fair point no? Yet this is a group that volunteers their time for free, comforts people in mourning, tries to keep our streets safer, and educates people. Why go there and try to hammer them on the one part I disagree with. Especially when they mean well, treat me well, and I'm going for a friend?

Its fine you know you obviously disagree with what some may believe in regards to homosexuality. I personally wouldn't see the point in bringing it up. Especially if otherwise you find them to be decent people trying their best.

It sounds like they were just nice people who were welcoming and kind to someone new with no hidden agenda.
No hidden agenda? It's a business posing as something else. They have a greeter just like at Wal-Mart, and for the same reason.

Wal-Mart is the one with no hidden agenda. Both the Wal-Mart and the church are interested only in your wallet. Both are salivating over another potential shopper/tither like a coyote over a pork chop.

But only Wal-Mart is honest about being a business, and only Wal-Mart gives you something for you money.

so if I call one specific black guy a "filthy black liar" its ok because directed my racist comment to one person? You are intellectually dishonest

Was the comment about a panty-sniffing God and the Jesus sex joke about me too?

And the conversation was about HL saying people weren't condemning the morality of all Christians. And you said you were. Just because now you can try to pretend because of how it was worded you meant something else is par for the course with you. You aren't an honest person.

LOL, you think the fact that you continue to be a broken record demonstrates a lack of insight?

You were one then and you still are one now

Nothing has changed. That's the point. You will continue to say the s things day after day to the same people because you need the attention. You might as well just continue to copy and paste your old posts like you do with your lists instead of taking the time to re-word them because you have been saying the same things for going on 18 months. You can't even see how pathetic that makes you and how obvious your need for validation is

You just forget to lie or is the one thing more important than your need for attention your own ego so of course any church you belonged to had to be great?

LOL

Its like watching a child try to lie with his hand still in the cookie jar. If the child was really, really emotionally needy.

Most of the people that go there are married. They can walk in holding hands. If Mia and I do that, it's going to be a problem. She understands that. That's why we don't hold hands when we go in. I understand that as well. That's why I don't make it a problem. I'm happy that she thinks enough of me to ask me to go with her. Two weeks in a row.

If I tell her that I'm an atheist and I find her religion repulsive, what do you think is going to happen?

Yeah its amazing how that pack of 13 icon supporters of yours always shows up right when you do at 4-5am!

Meh I'm sure its no coincidence you have mentioned them on several occasions as to how how important they are that people would take all that time (it is a lightly process) to icon my posts to express their displeasure! Weird they never seem to use words to do that. Well, I'm sure they are just tired since its 5am!

And a coincidence that's the post of mine you decided to link back to!

You have to be the world's most insecure 60 year old man!

Hey can you check your 8 hard-drives for any lists you may have forgotten to re-post? You never know when an immaginary friend will recently email you from 5 years ago!
