For everyone in the modern world, Jesus IS the reason for Christmas.
Er, no.

The reason for Christmas was the necessity to supplant an earlier festival of superstition with a newer festival of superstition.

I'm sorry that you can't understand what "proper translation" means.
Stop whining.
Judaism disagrees with the tortured Christian "translations".

"Search as I might, I could not find any reference to a day (Hebrew yôm) in Genesis 1 meaning any more than a literal 24-hour period. Some of the Rabbis did debate about Genesis 2:4, which says,“This is the account of the heavens and earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven.” However, in this case, yôm is prefixed by the preposition be, so beyôm, and was just an idiom for “when”. The days in Genesis 1 had no preposition, and had the phrase “evening and morning” and a number, which are always indicators of ordinary days everywhere else in the Old Testament. None of the rabbis tried to juggle this “day”(in Genesis 2:4) to suit pagan philosophy (the Greek philosophers held to a long-ages understanding). Instead, most of them correctly took “day” here to mean “at the time when” creation took place.(...)Turning to some of the more modern Jewish scholars, I discovered a stubborn refusal to dilute the plain meaning in the Hebrew Scriptures. Professor Ginsberg had this to say:
“There is nothing in the first chapter of Genesis to justify the spiritualisation of the expression ‘day’. On the contrary, the definition given in verse 5 of the word in question imperatively demands that ‘yom’ should be understood in the same sense as we understand the word ‘day’ in common parlance, i.e. as a natural day.”

Only till evolution and scientific dating methods begin to be known as a literal part of reality did it become necessary to say "that's not meant to indicate a literal 7 days".

Face it, you need it to mean longer than a day to reflect what science has shown to be the state of things, and even then it doesn't fit.

You just believe it does.

You feel as though you're accruing points for being asked how you could impregnate a female poster when you have self identified as a woman?
You cant see that it's a fair question?
Seriously though, in what universe does a female tell another female that they would like to 'put a bun' in their oven?
You could call on the servces of RiversideRacistPornAddict to argue that you were referring to baked goods or you could attempt to deflect by telling me I spelled "servces"[sic] incorrectly but....

Yom can have any of five meanings:

1. a period of light
2. a period of 24 hours
3. a general, vague time
4. a point of time
5. a year

Which is it in Genesis? Do you know?

Before guessing an answer, think about this:

"Back in the dinosaurs day...." doesn't mean that dinosaurs lived in a 24 hour period.

Go.

Yes, I know it exists, as do you.

Use logic, please.

Just because one knows of a porn site does not mean that person is "an avid consumer of porn".

I know of evilbible.com , too. Does that mean I'm "an avid consumer of atheist dogma"?

Think, old man.

Then take your meds.
