Interesting how selective you are in deciding what posts to reply to.
I'll try again, wifebeater and half a man:
Sorry, your philosophy of life and mine are very different.
In my view, a real man doesn't hit a woman.
A man who does is what you are, and what you are training you sons very well to be:
A wifebeater. An animal. A beast.
Oh yeah, a troglodyte.
Your last sentence, properly corrected, should read:

"And yea, verily, a troglodyte."

<quoted text>What makes you think I'm angry? I just thought atheism was as clear cut as River had stated in her own views. I'm just curious as I see some inconsistencies on the issue.
What you've got to keep in mind is that all you're seeing are illustrations of how individuals may describe their atheism, as in how it applies to them. Sure there are some variations in that thought process.

Nevertheless...

The end result is an atheist does not have the faith supported theistic belief there are deities or a deity.

Atheist lack that theistic belief.

Simple.

But as far as the rest of your post... evidence is all around you. Obviously, it's up to you to choose what you want to believe, whether one pushes aside info or not, it's up to them. That I do agree and have no qualms with. I just like to get a better understanding of other beliefs, not just atheism. Sorry if my passion came across as anger... I can assure you, well... from my own words, at least that I'm just chillin'... in bed, leaning back on a pillow, next to my warm wife.
Point out that evidence, and then explain why it is that all theists don't believe in the deity you do.

If it's evidence for one theist it should be applicable to all theists, no?

Yes, yes, and if you were born in a Buddhist culture, you'd be expressing the same thing about Buddha.

Likewise, any mythology. Ancient Greeks, you'd worship Dianna. Norse, Odin. And they'd be perfectly real to you, as your deity is - and your deity is as much a product of culture as their deities are.

Obviously, I'm not an atheist... but Richard Dawkins, "The Guy" wrote it himself. Okay... oh well, so you disagree with what he wrote. Now understood...no probs.
he was trying to communicate with the likes of you, I think he did a poor job.

This is a problem atheists encounter.
People think that we follow or "look up to" other atheists such as Hitchens or Dawkins, Stenger etc... as role models or something to aspire to.
Once they drop that notion it >might< be easier to grasp for the theist.
I've been atheist for close to 25 years now, and I didn't read one atheist author or publication arriving at being an atheist.
I read lots of religious and historical literature, however.
That's how I arrived at atheism.
They're just dudes like you and me.

I wouldn't feel any internal resistance in posting a critique of something one of the "atheist celebrities" put out there. And I'm sure they would welcome it.

Maybe that's a foreign concept to some.

Of course you don't see it that way, you're a coward and a pussy and you'd let a woman beat the shit out of you and do nothing back except apologize to her.
You know why dogs can tree bears? Because the bears utterly know they are the kings of the forest. They have nothing to prove, so they just wander up a tree, let the little dog yap, and wait.

Of course the bear could break the dog. It takes confidence and patience to hold one's position.

Grace, poise, elegance in bravery. These are everything to being a man.

Nope... He classifies himself and other peers based on those 7 milestones as well .... in print he believes he is a 6 but on a Bill Maher interview he conveniently changes it to 6.9.

But if you think he did a poor job... then so be it. I think he was just being honest with his own views.
