They taught us all about it in Sunday School.

It's all about spreading the love of Jesus by destroying other cultures and introducing deadly diseases.

By now you have been around us Christians long enough to know how to find out, unless your heart has hardened too much. Then I still can’t help you. It is time you grow up and take responsibility for that yourself. It is between you and God now. I have nothing to do with it. Do as you like.

Yes, yes, and if you were born in a Buddhist culture, you'd be expressing the same thing about Buddha.

Likewise, any mythology. Ancient Greeks, you'd worship Dianna. Norse, Odin. And they'd be perfectly real to you, as your deity is - and your deity is as much a product of culture as their deities are.

Obviously, I'm not an atheist... but Richard Dawkins, "The Guy" wrote it himself. Okay... oh well, so you disagree with what he wrote. Now understood...no probs.
he was trying to communicate with the likes of you, I think he did a poor job.

I completely agree with Dawkins 6.9

I disagree with that approach.

This is a problem atheists encounter.
People think that we follow or "look up to" other atheists such as Hitchens or Dawkins, Stenger etc... as role models or something to aspire to.
Once they drop that notion it >might< be easier to grasp for the theist.
I've been atheist for close to 25 years now, and I didn't read one atheist author or publication arriving at being an atheist.
I read lots of religious and historical literature, however.
That's how I arrived at atheism.
They're just dudes like you and me.

I wouldn't feel any internal resistance in posting a critique of something one of the "atheist celebrities" put out there. And I'm sure they would welcome it.

Maybe that's a foreign concept to some.

You know why dogs can tree bears? Because the bears utterly know they are the kings of the forest. They have nothing to prove, so they just wander up a tree, let the little dog yap, and wait.

Of course the bear could break the dog. It takes confidence and patience to hold one's position.

Grace, poise, elegance in bravery. These are everything to being a man.

Nope... He classifies himself and other peers based on those 7 milestones as well .... in print he believes he is a 6 but on a Bill Maher interview he conveniently changes it to 6.9.

But if you think he did a poor job... then so be it. I think he was just being honest with his own views.

Itt is a perversion or a deviance from the norm. What is funny to me is my wife that was in the life and another (homosexual)family member that lives in San Fran doesn't agree with you. But calling people with different word views cave dwellers and the like is the height of love and tolerance. Do you ever day as you say? Ever? Two faced as ever er Chaser?
Perversion used to be a technical term in sexology. It's now defunct, having been demonstrated false.

The only meaning you are producing by using is "people who are different than me are less than me." It's not flattering to you, to send that message.

That's not really what I ask. That's not even what I wrote to you when discussing your inferences on the universe.

But, ok, if you want to take it that way, great.

Which do you... ah... evalutate?

<quoted text>Nope... I'm looking right at what is written, quite literally, about the views of various atheists and agnostics. There is nothing figurative about it cept for some examples they cite.
Let me try this one more time. You are a theist. You believe in a god. I know, I know, the God but still, a god.

When you put an A in front of theist you get a person who does not believe in a god. Any god. The A signifies non. Atheist. I'm not a theist. I'm a non theist. It doesn't mean, at all, that I'm anti-theist. I hope that's clear. Whatever you're reading doesn't matter. A non-theist does not believe in gods. A non-theist who isn't sure is not a non-theist. It's just somebody who is questioning the idea of gods. That would be an agnostic. I'm not an agnostic.

I'm not an agnostic. I'm a full blown atheist. There are no gods. None. Not yours, not anybody's.

That, sir, is an atheist. You can't even question that. It should be perfectly clear.
Qu_innocence wrote:
<quoted text>Once again, I do believe you when you say that you are an atheist but the world doesn't revolve around you and there are other atheists out there (and outside of this thread) with opposing views to yours..
My world does revolve around me. There can be no opposing views about atheism. It's cut and dry. It means what it means. Non-theist. Atheist.

<quoted text>It's not so simple to initiates... but with lots of practice, training, acquiring knowledge and humility they can get better, become a wise master at their craft even. But it takes time, it takes hard work and it takes patience, still.
It takes tons of practice. I've been doing it since I could walk. I still practice at least 2 hours a day. It's still a simple concept. Balance.

I'm an atheist with great balance and uncanny defensive skills. Am I going to have to go into detail about what constitutes defense? It gets a little iffy sometimes. Defense and offense, ya know?

;-p

I'm cocky because I can be. I don't know Ip Man just like I don't know Jesus.

I am what I am. Deal with that accordingly.
