They hired you so that makes your claim a lie.

I know a dozen Italian restaurants that only hire Italians and mostly friends and family!

So what.

Small business can hire anyone they want for any reason.

Since you are so perfect, start your own business.

I have a problem taking what you say at face value.

And tell me, how come I don't feel any of that "white pride" you're so proud of?

And the other Christians sit by and say nothing. But I say I hope he dies for what he said and I am the Antichrist.

At least non-believers had enough guts to confront me on what I said.

I have realized that, in general, non-believers here have much higher morals and ethical standards than Christians.
Non-believers are much more likely to be honest as well.

I guess a little if both.
I'm not ashamed to be proud of who and what I am, regardless if it offends someone.
You never answered what there is about being "white" to be proud of.

It's irrational to be proud or ashamed of your condition of birth.
RiversideRedneck wrote:
I'm trying to change the cultural norm that "white pride = racist KKK aryan brotherhood" and that I'm not going to accept any shame for being who I am.
You should support me in my endeavor.
By using the same language as white supremacists, you're doing their work for them.

If it were clear that you were not actually proud of being white, you could use sarcasm to oppose racism. Sarcasm is a little hard to pull off in text.

I recommend you try to articulate yourself better without using well established racist terminology.
RiversideRedneck wrote:
The fact that you see "white pride" as coinciding with that of white supremacists tells me that I MUST continue my efforts to break that stereotype.
"White pride" is culturally defined. Your efforts will never change that definition. There is no movement that I'm aware of to reassign that term in opposition to it's current meaning. You haven't clarified what you mean to the extent that would lead me to believe that you aren't a white supremacist. What is there about being white that you should be proud of?

In a truly equal society, black pride, gay pride, straight pride, and white pride, will all be culturally defined as irrational. America is not such a society, yet.
RiversideRedneck wrote:
What am I doing wrong?
You're using terminology made famous by racists. You're not clarifying your position well enough to differentiate yourself from white supremacists. Why are you proud of being "white"? Why are white supremacists proud of being "white"?

"I am proud to have the courage to face my abusers and not run from them anymore." Makes sense.
"I am proud that I was born this way" doesn't.
I am not Proud to have Asperger's. I am proud that I achieved much in my life despite having Asperger's.
I think HL is approaching it from the point of view that for generations it has been seen as something to be ashamed of, and by that, I mean being gay, or black. or>(insert all terms here that are a result of birth, birthplace, etc...).

Even being intelligent or "smart" is often seen by people as something to be ashamed of, in many instances. Notice, professor is not spelled "perfessir".

So it isn't a reaction to the particular "state" a person is or happens to be. It's a reaction to having endured or experienced that mentality evidenced by others who try to shame you for being "who you are or what you are" merely because they don't approve of that, and primarily for the reason that that "state of being" a person is, is seen as less those who employ those tactics of shame.

Now I suppose it could be said that RR is experiencing the same thing in some way, but no one is trying to shame RR for being "white". The message is that RR is using racist/misogynistic terms and exhibiting those attitudes.

Also, I suppose it could be said the same thing is being promoted against Christians, and my response to that, is that Christianity is a belief, and > is < subject to the same sort of criticisms that any belief that is chosen can, is or may be subjected to, such as being a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, environmentalist, Capitalist, Socialist etc...

Christianity or any religious belief deserves no different treatment or lesser level of scrutiny than any other belief is subjected to.

All beliefs should be examined, and if it applies, criticized or applauded for what they represent or the results they produce or effect.

That's my opinion. I don't expect anyone to believe it.

Maybe I'm wrong. That doesn't bother if I am, and if I am I'll change that opinion.

Not in my view.
Just like with Ben. He doesn't think "cracker" is a derogatory term, although most people do.
I see white pride as when someone is proud of having white skin and having european heritage,(or in my case, American heritage), often mistaken as racism, although it is just like black pride/asian pride.
Black dude: black pride!
everyone else is cool with it
Asian dude: asian pride!
everyone else is cool with it
Gay dude: gay pride!
everyone else is cool with it
White dude: white pride!
everyone else:kill the racist white boy!
Now white power? That's definitely a racial superiority comment and definitely racist.
Let's say you're playing a game. There are like a dozen players. You receive ten points before the game even starts.

One of the other players gets away with a foul of some kind, and you complain.

You're the dick in that situation.

When equality is achieved, those who have been fighting for centuries will finally be able to relax, and you will hear no more about black pride or gay pride or similar reactions.

Besides I encourage him to be creative just to get the dust off the ol gray matter. At his age nothing but repetition can be dangerous. But I draw the line at colored chalk. He was getting too over-stimulated for a while.
I like to think I help keep him balanced and grounded in reality. Tough love and all that:)

Posting has been entertaining.

I abhor labels, But if I must.
My label would be 'irreligious'.

My thoughts on the topic...
I cannot prove that there is no God or Gods.
I equally cannot prove that Heaven/Hell exist. The Christian God may exist; then again, so may the gods of Olympus, or of ancient Egypt, or of Babylon... none of these hypotheses are any more probable than the other as they lie outside the region of even probable knowledge and there is no reason for me to consider any.
