Reminds me of what happened yesterday...
There is a little cafe close by called Bang Bangs. I usually order their turkey and avocado sandwich. They also serve a sliced beef sandwich that I don't order because I have given up beef. Yesterday I decided to order the BLT (was in the mood for bacon) only to find out that it was veggie bacon...it is against their policy to serve swine they said.
I thought it was strange...poor turkey and cow got no respect! Their motto...LONG LIVE THE SWINE!
This is my week to celebrate the vegetable...no meat of any kind this week.
Maybe that is why I am very depressed and angry!

We do LEARN MORALS----but we are inborn with a sense of right and wrong---as we grow---this comes out in us.
Vegetarians eats eggs don't they?

I wonder how they justify that?

I can't keep up with all the different classifications though as it seems there are dozens of different kinds of vegetarians and vegans.

Ironically if everyone refused to eat meat it would cause all sorts of starvation among animals and destroy the ozone from the gasses released when cows graze, if the farming industry collapsed it would have a devastating ripple effect on the economy and all sorts of other weird stuff.

I don't find either choice to be more moral. I will say though that the methods used for slaughtering animals are barbaric and as more and more people are standing up against it they are slowly changing for the better. Man is biologically designed to eat meat. It is not healthy to cut out meat all together. But like most things, moderation is the key

I respect people that choose not to eat meat based on their personal beliefs. But ultimately there needs to be people that eat meat. But certainly not everyone so people who choose not to aren't hurting anything. But like I said, it is simply a choice IMO and overall morally neutral

It amazes me that people put their personal information on social websites and then become indignant when other people look at it. It's there for everybody to see and >>YOU<< put it there. Even employers search social media when vetting a prospective employee.
I don't personally use Facebook but it's not because I'm afraid somebody will find out who I am. I use my picture as my avatar occasionally. When Facebook took off, I was living in China. No Facebook in China. You can find me on Qzone though if you can get past the hanzi.
RT....I understand....but FB is designed to have "Friends" and you accept or deny them. FB has a option that even if you aren't Friends with someone others can see their info.(Public view) The Info is put on because they TRUST who is in their group. So....There is the dilemma....Not the people who are on FB...but the "snoopers". Now you can block all friends except the ones in your group....That keeps praying eyes out. A lot of people have dropped out of FB because of this (and other) issues....
I like it...Its just a way for me to keep in touch with my family and friends in other countries/states.

.. studies like this lead me to think that morals are learned. This is why parenting skills are essential ..
.. empathy may be an innate or learned behavior, really don't know. This would make for an interesting debate. Do some humans naturally feel the pain of other sentient beings? If not, how can the quality be instilled? Does religion make someone more or less empathetic ??..
I read the article

You added the sentence "he didn't know right from wrong"

I realize that is your opinion and am not claiming you tried to pass it off as the article. I am just curious how you concluded that? What does morality have to do with being toilet-trained or wearing clothes? And obviously he would have to eat the way he did in the wild by tearing apart the kill.

There may be some innate sense of right and wrong but the only way that could be tested is through socialization or social interaction which would make it impossible to rule out external factors. Finding someone "feral" to decide what their morality is would require us to observe them interacting with others and how someone responds could be more of the reason than a natural moral base but we would have no way of knowing. But i didn't read anything in that to suggest the boy was immoral.

Anything is plausible.
However, without proof or confession it is nothing but slander/libel AKA "bearing false witness".

You and I admit we were chemical abusers so if someone says "Duane is an alcoholic" they would be correct. If they say "Duane is a criminal." they would be lying.

Trying to avoid this kind of stuff but I could list 6-7 off the top of my head that would make it very plausible. And the reason I am going to is because Larry shouldn't be dragged into this for repeating something I said when I know the details better
He got rid of patients who didn't follow his instructions (doctors that have been sued or are afraid of being sued do this and normally it is the former as most doctors will simply note their files if a patient opts not to follow instructions)
How many double-board certified s do you know that retire to Mexico?
If someone wanted to avoid civil litigation yet stay as close to the states as possible because of family, where would they go?
He definitely didn't go there to get away from religious and national symbolism like he said.
He still is in complete denial about opiates being physically addictive.
He got very angry when I said the doctor was responsible for me getting originally addicted. He accused me of lying when I said I followed the instructions to the letter which is the absolute truth. And he refused to say whose fault it would be then
He thinks only a very small segment of the population can even get addicted. His claims are so discredited on things like that or opiates not being physically addicted that denial is the only logical explanation because it has bit him in the behind
Sure its possible he isn't avoiding lawsuits. He may have lost most his money already in one and that's why he is there. Or maybe its neither. But its not like Ians would ever admit it. And as far as speculation goes, its not exactly crazy to consider. But not gonna say any more on it. Just don't want others involved because of me

.. so far, I've received three FACEBOOK invites from Christians on this thread and was forced to refuse all of them. If this happened to me, I'm fairly certain it happened to IAN ..
.. from there, it's relatively easy to solve the puzzle. Did I scan through the friend's list? Yep! Blame curiosity, not morbid fascination or devious intent. It becomes a problem if I post something of a personal nature on Topix gleaned from information harvested off FACEBOOK ..
.. probably some Christians on this thread already know my real life identity. Does it bother me? Unless it's Dr. Shrink, it doesn't matter ..
.. it's hard to resist reading into things; that's human nature. Is Skom a sociopath? Is Catcher a two-bit attorney, perhaps a liar? Is Clearwater depressed? Is River crazy or a brilliant deviant? Is HL really into bondage ??..
.. to answer the last question - yes, it's great fun. Would you like a blue or pink scarf ??..
The only problem I have with you is you are gay. That only bothers me because I am not a woman. If I were a woman I would be asking you for a date.

Not all of the THEYs have a problem with anyone else eating meat. Some of us choose to either cut out meat or at least cut back on our consumption because of health issues.

I did not cut out red meat and cut back on other meats for religious or moral reasons. I do however find it sad that we consume such a vast amount of meat that it has become the norm to raise our animals in the conditions that they have to live (if you can call it living).

I made this choice for myself only and I certainly don't feel that I should force that choice on anyone else...nor do I look down on them for having chosen differently.

We are born with a conscience. A sense of right and wrong. The conscience develops .
We have the URGE through this conscience to do right.

HL, there are some Parents (sad to say) that do not teach or guide their children---the children see nothing but drugs, anger, fighting and indecent acts, all the time , all day long.

You wonder how these children ever become 'A good upstanding , loving and kind individual' We all have this Conscience that TEACHES us within us. That CHOICE of doing right from wrong---SEEING right and wrong---HEARing right and wrong.

<quoted text>
But there is a difference between stating something for a fact and speculating

Larry said I was probably right. Not that he knew I was. That's an opinion to me, not stating it as a fact

And I know i have always stated it as something that MIGHT be true. Phrasing it like "it wouldn't surprise me if" and ways like that

I would agree that stating something as a fact without proof would be over the line
