.. yes, these young Missionaries help in anyway they can, giving of their time and meager resources ..
.. did you know the success of a Mormon Missionary is based on the number of people they convert? Wouldn't you want to make your parents proud ??..
.. if a hungry family is willing to listen to their message, they bring food from the Bishop's Storehouse. If clothes are needed, they arrive with used garments that were donated to Deseret Industries. It's all very well structured ..
.. enjoy the Missionaries; they're wonderful people who believe in what they're doing. Just be aware of their mission ..
Cheers ~ I love Praying at the Dinner table with our Grandchildren.... and I love them knowing how much I believe in GOD. I love it that they were here with me when Queen Puggy died, and my youngest and I re-worded the Bruno Mars song "Marry You" and put Puggy's name where we could.
I wouldn't want my Offspring to have their love of GOD, JESUS or the ANGELS tarnished by man(kind) and am very mindful, accordingly.
Their Mission as such should be similar to my own ~ Spreading the love of GOD and JESUS, with a focus on living day Prophets. I have no hesitation in believing there are living Prophets, but not necessarily aware of who they actually are.

That's unusual, that's for sure! I have a lovely White leather Bible, with paper pages (not rice paper) so that I could make underlines and notes, and have stick it notes sticking out of it everywhere. I also have a few notebooks, all piled up no longer used ~ Google and the laptop have left those days behind, although I will always keep my notes etc, because sometime, somewhere down the track they will have meaning to someone who cares :)

"he goes before you into Galilee! You will see him there! " - Matthew

"he will be in Galilee before you. You will see him there just as he told you" - Mark

According to HU, the Bible is a pack of lies too.

As a professional I have to back up my claims with evidence.

Wish the wannabe would at least make an attempt.

When I asked them not to come in here and ruin this forum any more than it has been ruined, I wish I had raved on about it more, instead of letting it ride over.

They wanted to come in here and give the Christians a hard time for their beliefs, and they did and they still are. Sadly, I will always feel I let Andrew down by not getting involved during these last weeks of his postings. We expect their taunting and mockery, and we should be able to defend it with the strength of knowing it is our right to defend our beliefs.

A hard lesson has been learned, and one that will leave an etch of sorrow on my heart for all times....

I did the same with all my books for the same reason.
I found my "AC Electric Motors" from High School to have been of more value than the Bible.
I still have all my texts and notes from high school and college.

.. it seems to me that the smaller churches perform more charitable work than mega-churches ..
.. in the UK, the Mormon Church is subject to tax audits. In a recent year, total UK donations were $34,010,000 Pounds, charity accounted for $1,077,000 Pounds. That's 3% spent on the needy, 97% on administration costs ..
http://www.mormoncurtain.com/topic_mormon_mon ...
.. rest assured, this percentage is smaller in the United States. Compare that to KIVA which spends an average of 2% on administrative costs or Doctors Without Borders, 11%-14%..
.. how can people continue to ignore this travesty under the banner of religious freedom? It would be nice if some Christians in this forum explained this injustice ..
<quoted text>
.. no Christian has stepped forward to explain why only 3% of Mormon church revenues in the U.K. are spent on charity ..
.. could someone from the United Kingdom tell me if the RCC is subject to tax audits? How about The Church of England ??..
.. why is the dollar figure actually allocated by large churches for charitable works so well hidden ??..

But you feel it is OK for the Christians to give the NON-Christians a hard time for THEIR beliefs, as they did and they still do.

Maybe if you dropped the double standard it would make sense.

"Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand." - Jesus
He was referring to people just like the majority of Christians.

Do you believe John the hermit of Patmos or Jesus of Galilee ?

That would be irrelevant.
I'll bet that you'd agree that the answer to that won't help us decide if the church is as charitable as it claims, how much benefit it actually provides to the community, whether the church can be is trustworthy and should be believed, whether it should continue receiving tax breaks as a charity, or any other practical matter that has been the impetus for challenging the church's claims for itself.
Your personal bias comes out at times like these. As I've said before, you're a sweet person, but your commitment to your faith is greater than your commitment to the conclusions of evidence based reason. So here you are looking at very damning data and arguments against the church, and you're deflecting attention from the church. You're also making the implicit argument that the atheists might be as bad as or worse than the church.
Even if it turned out that the "atheists" were totally fabricating their data, that wouldn't help the church a bit. That would merely underscore the need to verify such claims before accepting them as reported.
You're more committed to helping preserve the image of the church than helping to determine and to teach the general public what it really is, what it really does, and what it is really worth.
That's all expected. I'm just pointing out an example of a gentle style of apologetics for illustrative purposes.
Yours is also an example of the corrupting nature of faith based thinking and church teaching. We'd be a little better off if your loyalties were to evidence based conclusions what rather than to what serves the church.
I will always link Andrew's death with you IANS (and some others), and this is going to make it hard, because every now and then, you write of your love of Pugs and dogs, and nice postings as such, and I will be finding it hard to reply.

You would be no better off if I changed my loyalties, but those around me would be worse off if I did, but I can assure you, I won't.

It may be funny to you, but that doesn't mean much when the BBT has actual evidence supporting it.
Invisible disembodied magical super brain?
None.
I'm am very happy with the findings of today's Scientists that state that we are far too miraculous to have been a result of circumstance..... way, way too complex for that. You might need to move with the times, or find yourself left behind, as they unravel the Magic of that which is us :)

Hey Le Le,
You have a right to your opinion but I have to disagree with you on this my friend. Sorry Le Le but I strongly disagree. Chris is a fine young man. One I would be proud of if I were his mother. I see that his belief in God gives him peace not frustration. He is going by the word of God. I am not sure if you believe the Bible is the word of God or not but he does and so far anyway that is not against the law. Just because you believe something is wrong does not mean you hate the one doing it.

The subject of alcoholism was not being referenced to here on wsjlm though.. Your point
Is void.
You have no one else but your selfish self to blame for your wife's and you own
Homosexuality being spoken of here on this thread.
Didn't you say your wife was was also a drug abuser, before God intervened.
For - your wife (god help her being publicly abused by her husband) wasn't born addicted to drugs..
Well. Some babies are. So I take that back..
Was she born a heroin baby??
I don't see the hate you keep referencing to regarding your plight here on wsjlm.
The hate must be coming from your own heart..

JESUS PREDICTS JESUS' DENIAL

“You will all fall away,” Jesus told them,“for it is written:‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’

But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”

Peter declared,“Even if all fall away, I will not.”

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered,“today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times.”

But Peter insisted EMPHATICALLY,“Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.

Ahh ~ that's good. I tossed out most of the old manuals etc I have picked up along the way, because there were just too many to keep hanging onto. Computer manuals used to be huge, now we search on-line! Have just finished a five week Social Media e Course, although due to end of financial year, haven't started setting things up yet. I did print out the modules though, as sometimes I need to read the notes while following the links, but one way of keeping costs down for the supplier :)

My being drawn to the Bible was like a moth to a flame... absolutely no denying it, nor any reason to want to deny it. Everything that has been good in my life has been because of GOD.
