A plant on your part not mine.I never said one word
About Atheists blaming God I addressed the individual.
I used the word YOU.
You need to practice what your telling me to be careful of.
If you don't understand, just say so.

I will think no less of you.

My first mistake was the worst. Never talk to the white rabbit. He doesn't have time. I was just looking for the Queen of Hearts.

I am still.

We are here for a purpose, Khatru.....
I was wondering just whose purpose would that be and more to the point, what exactly is it?

Does this purpose entail being respectful to your fellow humans no matter their gender, race, sexual orientation or religion?

Does it promote equality and fairness for all?
Serah wrote:
And there is indeed evil among the people that live in this world, as I am sure you would agree;
I agree that there are evil people and there are good people. Evil per se, is not a force of nature.
Serah wrote:
Genesis 6:6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
Ah, so he's not omniscient; because if he was, he would have known about this and never let it happen in the first place.

Looks like his plan failed so he decided to kill pretty much everyone and start again. I guess he's not omnipotent either.
Serah wrote:
Not all makes sense now, but it is also my belief that there are ANGELS at work that are clearing up the people, and that there will one day be peace on earth, and all will be happy.
You're one of these people who believes humanity is not in control of its own destiny and is beset from cradle to grave by angels and demons?

Don't worry though as Christianity can't claim sole ownership of this idea - other religions can be just a silly.
Serah wrote:
Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Is this recommending meekness?

Or is it just saying "Don't worry if you're meek because God won't forget you - in fact he will give you the earth".?

Ah well, perhaps Christians should remember this divine encouragement to meekness the next time they sing "Onward Christian soldiers marching as to war" - that's really meek.
Serah wrote:
Luke 1:53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
Yet hunger kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Looks like whatever those good things are that he fills the hungry with aren't very effective.

1. Tolerating other religions, gays, women and disabled people.

2. Stopping natural disasters from killing hundreds of thousands.

3. Ending cancer, leukaemia, meningitis, etc.

4. Loving people without involving pain and fire.

5. Avoiding errors and contradictions in his holy book.

No doubt there are more examples, so the above is not an exhaustive list.

Having said all that!
What place, country, city, is considered a place of refuge for those who believe in a GOD?
We all know the #1 place (in the minds of people), quoting scriptures mean you let others think for you.
Is it prohibited to put "scriptures" into your own words?
Good Morning Mike, or what ever time of day it is where ever you are.
Good point. I might add building to that list. None of these would be my answer. One time I was in a church, teaching about the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. I pointed at a Bible and said that is not your sword of the spirit. Man, you should have seen the faces and looks I got. People were squirming in their seats. I told them as it sits there, it is useless. I told them to open it up and read it. It's a little more helpful. But, it's still not the sword of the spirit. We read it and gets into our mind. And that is a good thing. Much of it when we read it, we don't understand, or it doesn't make sense. We have to study it, get it into our heart, our spirit. There is much more that goes with this but I will try to get to the point. We go to God in our heart in faith, in the will of God. I can repeat scripture to myself that is out of context. And try to use it to get what I want. But it doesn't work that way. I can say his word say lay your treasures upon the lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart. And then say OK, the Lord is going to give me a bunch of money. That is laying my treasure up in worldly things not heavenly things. We have to rightly divide the word. We find God in our heart, mind, and spirit.
No I am not prohibited from saying what the scripture says in my own words. Most of the time that is what I do.
When I post scripture, I do not want anyone to look at me. Just because a person quotes scripture doesn't say much of anything about the person. Perhaps it say they have some scripture memorized. On here thought it doesn't even indicate that. Google, copy and paste. Only God knows what lies deep in the heart of a person. So the judgement of others in regards to me is truely useless. I am a sinner saved by grace. And I am not a person that would want people to follow me. I would recommend following Jesus. He is a much better example of how to live than I am.

mike, I misread one of your comments. When I post scripture it is not letting others think for me. It is something that I read. And something I read cause me to think. And then I share what I read. Perhaps it will cause someone else to think. That is my intent. I can't speak for anyone else.

I changed just a few words. Can you tell which ones they are, bigot?
Yes, I can tell.

How is being black like being a Christian? One is the result of genetics, has no bearing on the character of the individual, and is none of anybody's business, while the other is a choice with associated behaviors that are my business when they affect me and the people I care about.

Furthermore, my characterizations of how the collective of Christians appears does not mean that I think that every Christians is exactly like that. Perhaps you are referring to my characterization of German Christians in World War II, who I accused of moral laxity for sitting idly by while Hitler killed Jews in the name of their god. I don't think that every Christian was moral putty. Some famous counterexamples would belie that claim.

But that didn't help the Jews.

I generally speak about Christians collectively - often as "the church." It's an unflattering review. That doesn't make me a bigot. It makes me a critic.

My posting of God's own scriptures regarding the behavior of Christians is to LeLe too- It is for ALL of us--- and is God's own word. How is it 'brow beating'?
God alone saw to it that these very basic rules of conduct made it into the book- every time any of us mock it's use as a tool of growth or it's use to help us remember.... it is a demial that His word matters. Thus showing the non believers that we don't even take God's word serious....yet we are expecting them to want TO know more.
Over the years here at topix---
New groups of non believers come in here and are accused of attacking- Each time---THEY point out that we do NOT behave as Christians should. Each time the non believers are attacked MORE for saying that....
Then they witness some Christians trying to remind other Christians of how we are supposed to behave...and they watch Christians deny that we have a moral code we should feel in our hearts... which we should be honoring.
I just don't get it.
His very word tells us we fight against principalities...not humans-
His word says to help others- due to our love for Him...and them.
Yet year after year
Christian people refuse to reflect and grow wiser in His word. Becomming the very humans driven by the negative principalities.
I have not witnessed but only a few posts- where it actually looks like Christians are trying to adhere--- and for His purpose and glory.
Not just you ((((((Scott)))))))- but so very many that just come in here for the thrill of battle I guess.
Good morning >>>>>Deb< <<<<<

I do understand the points that you are making here concerning Christian behavior being more in appliance with God's Word of conduct, but also too what you must understand is that while we aspire and strive to be more and more what the Lord Jesus would have us be IN Christ, we are still at this present time in the flesh, and so long as we are in this shell of flesh bone and blood, we are never going to be as 100% as we may ourselves would like to be, there is a spiritual warfare that is going on right now, and it is all we can do to hold on in these last and evil days, that is why the gift of the Holy Ghost is so essential to the believers salvation, because it is the staying power to keep us imbedded IN Christ Jesus, but again it is a spiritual battle that Christ has already garnered the victory on our behalf, he has already won it for us, but however..........it is up to us to latch on to that victory and claim it IN the Lord's name, and we do that by our adherence and daily life living unto his Holy Word via being empowered by the God's spirit.

But we are going to stumble a little here and there while we are walking on this Holy highway, no saint is truly as perfect as Christ commanded us to be because it is a steady on going process to be so, as I've heard our overseer challenge the congregation more than once that if anyone in here believe that they are so totally perfect in God and that there is no more room for improvement in you, then stand up and make it known and he guaranteed you that the spirit can search you and bring something out in your being and your life that you need to improve upon or repent from..........needless to say that no one stood up, lol.....which was very wise on everyone's part.

He has no need to taunt you because he already has you right where he wants you, completely deceived, lost and under his control. And the saddest thing is you didn't have a clue it was happening. And with the mindset you have now unless you see the light he'll never have to worry about you. You'll just continue down the path he's got you on. And as long as that continues he has nothing to worry about at all where you're concerned. He'll just sit back (like he is with you now) and watch you walk right into his arms.
Sad, truly sad.
Isnt the saddest thing that God let him decieve her?
